Fratangelo[edit]

Completely unacceptable and can be reverted on sight. An article on him specifically has also been speedy deleted. Thanks for letting me know. Wikibofh got there first. I'll look into the IP. Tyrenius 02:30, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well done. I see you've been reverting them as well, and have become an official vandal-fighter!!! Tyrenius 02:37, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My helpful edit.[edit]

Since a female relative of mine married into an Azerbaijani family, I'd thought I'd share my knowledge of these people, and add to the article. I don't think my edit should have been reverted at all, and I would like you to revert your revert, or add my information to the article proper.

Thanks for your help.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.18.20.252 (talkcontribs) .

A good strategy in editing articles, is to work with what is existing, and use text or web references to cite valid sources for what you add. Your edit dismissed and erased most of what is a featured article, that is, one that is among Wikipedia's best, and replaced it with stereotype-like observations. That said, I am not going to re-revert my edit. DVD+ R/W 02:08, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
"Stereotype" is just another word for "I don't really know what I'm talking about, but you're being a meanie", right? Well, regardless, this has dismayed me from making further contributions to Wikipedia. I won't be bothering you or your site any longer.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.18.20.252 (talkcontribs) .
Sorry you want to leave, you're right I really don't know much about this topic. I also don't want to be discouraging. You'd be better taking this up with the contributors to that article, whose work you tried to erase, maybe now, or better later when the article is not on the main page and when they aren't as likely to be busy. DVD+ R/W 02:27, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You've got a Thank you card![edit]

Photo Gallery[edit]

I was looking at your photos, and I wasn't sure if you tried to put them in a gallery or not. You probably do, but here goes. To create a gallery put < gallery > at the beginning of the photos, without spaces and </ gallery > at the end of the photos, also no spaces. See here for an example of the gallery. Just thought I'd help In case you didn't know this. Took me ages to ages and a lot of frustration to figure it out. Auriga M36™ 00:19, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the pointer. I considered putting them in a gallery but decided on the small thumbnails that I have them displayed in after noting that the size and table is fixed and that they don't adapt to screen width by wrapping in the < gallery > format. After your comments I am reconsidering, though. Thanks again. DVD+ R/W 00:32, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Thanks[edit]

No problem! The guy blanked mine after I reverted yours, then left a message saying he didn't know there were admins here. Don't know if that's accurate or not, but he stopped after that for whatever reason, and I don't think he was blocked.

On the subject, I've noticed something lately - some blatant vandals are hitting pages repeatedly but aren't being warned with even a test1 until their 3rd or 4th act. I swear I counted a couple dozen instances of it just last night. The same thing is happening with spam and even good faith additions of copyvio material; some folks are just reverting them with just a brief 'rv copyvio' or 'rv spam' edit summary, but no kind of notice to the editor in question. It bugs me not only because it makes it harder to block vandals, because they aren't getting the cycle of warnings started per policy, but a bunch of good faith newbies probably are wondering why their edits just vanish. I don't know where it needs to be addressed, but I think it's becoming a problem. Anyway, see you around the salt mines - Baseball,Baby! ballsstrikes 02:22, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help with IP Vandal[edit]

Thanks for help with reporting/warning the IP vandal. I had no clue how to do it. Have changed it as suggested. Fingers crossed he stays away Dodge 03:31, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Was definitely vandalism. Post here on a Message Board (you may need to log in, not sure, apologies if you do). Do you suggest leaving it until he does it again? (BTW I've no problem with that, in case it came across that way) Dodge 04:00, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand this second request or what the link is. DVD+ R/W 04:04, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Its a link to a post on an Football club supporters' Message Board boasting about the vandalisation of the pages the unregistered IP address attacked. The time matches too. I just checked and you have to register with the forum (obviously not asking you to do that) I put link there without checking - Sorry! I was asking whether I should post this on the IP talk page or just leave it. Sorry for confusion, I've never dealt with a vandal before Dodge 04:40, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Goldom's RFA thanks[edit]

Thank you for your support on my RFA, which closed successfully this morning with a result of (53/2/1). I've spent the day trying out the new tools, and trying not to mess things up too badly :). I was quite thrilled with all the support, both from the people I see around every day, as well as many users who I didn't know from before, yet wrote such wonderful things about me. I look forward to helping to serve all of you, and the project. Let me know if there's anything I can help you with. -Goldom ‽‽‽ 04:45, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reason User:OzWrestlemaniac is blocked:

Deletion summaries[edit]

My deletion summaries aren't caused by any user script, they are just my own idea made easy by Firefox autofilling it in for me (using [[Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#I4|CSD I4]], Images with unknown source after seven days). If you are loking for image deletions to do, CAT:NS, CAT:NL, CAT:ORFU, and CAT:NR all need to be cleaned out daily (anything in the categoried seven days older or more), CAT:NCT can always be cleaned out (those can be deleted as soon as they are tagged, no checking needed really), and WP:PUI and WP:IFD are both very backlogged at the moment. Anything you can do to help (especially the last two) is very appreciated. Thanks! (PS, your email appears to be disabled; it is very important for an administrator to have a functionable email.) NCT[edit]

My understanding is that basically all there needs to be is that everything at Wikipedia is at Commons. Of course, it should already be there already (that's why it is tagged NCT awaiting deletion), so you just need to make a quick scan to see that it checks out, and then delete (or transfer the missing source/copyright/etc. info to Commons and then delete or de-tag if it was tagged in error). Does that help? Dmcdevit·t 00:29, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of NowCommons template[edit]

Please stop removing valid NowCommons templates from images, this template's only usage is to mark images available at the Commons. Do not remove the template because the image at the Commons has a different name, this is only a marker template to prevent these images from being uploaded twice. --Denniss 00:19, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is quite a backlog at CAT:NC. As I understand it, these images need deleting per CSD I9 or to have NC templates removed. I have been removing the tags of images I am not deleting to clear the backlog. My reasoning in removing these templates is to keep them from getting deleted unduly by someone else in the case that: 1) the author is uncredited at the Commons 2) the image doesn't exist on the Commons or the link is botched 3) there are more articles linked than I can rename the images in accordance with the Commons name in a reasonable amount of time. Since you bring this up, I'd like to get a third opinion. DVD+ R/W 00:32, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I fail to see a requirement to speedy delete these images or to remove the NC tag, there are some bots around replacing images with the NC tag to the Commons names. Like this one --Denniss 00:43, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Make sure you don't mix up CAT:NCT and CAT:NC. NCT images can typically be deleted immediately if it checks out, because the Commons ones will render instead. NC images are images that are identically at Commons, but with a different name. They first have to be orphans (change the links to the name it's at in Commons, like the bot is doing, or better yet, delete all the images the bot has already orphaned first), and then they may be deleted. Does this help clear things up? Dmcdevit·t 00:49, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes it helps, but I have more questions too. If the image is not on the Commons or at least not at the link cited in the template, have I erred in removing the template? Should I not do this in the future? When they are not orphaned, and I obviously can't delete because the names don't coincide, should I leave the tag on? DVD+ R/W 01:14, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If you can find it at Commons, then you can orphan and delete it. If you can't find it at Commons, then the tag is innappropriate and should be removed (or perhaps replaced with {{Move to Wikimedia Commons}} or reuploaded yourself). Dmcdevit·t 01:18, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Another thing to check: Sometimes images are moved to Commons and the NC template set but only the image name without Image: in front is specified in the template resulting in a "file doe snot exist". --Denniss 02:11, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for fixing the broken links on many of the templates I removed. I've gone ahead and started deleting the ones that were properly transferred. Many of the others lack credit to their authors and it would be a shame for some one else to delete them for being redundant and to loose that. DVD+ R/W 02:59, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
DVD, only the 2nd reason you have given above is valid for removing the template. When not all information about the image is moved to Commons, it's not hard to fix it. When there are too many links, there are bots to help (User:Messedrocker's one was very helpful). Conscious 07:14, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Commons seems to be heavily backlogged everywhere, they don't have enough admins IMO. Conscious 20:47, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I changed it to something else, if you really think it is intriguing and you won't think I am a cannibal or a survivalist, I'll change it back. DVD+ R/W 23:03, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey I've been there - it's venturi isn't it - they used to have an original mondrian in there and a pretty cool native american art section.--Mcginnly | Natter 23:19, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Glad you've been. Yes it's a Venturi. I don't know their collection that well and haven't been there recently. They are renovating and just attached a new tower on the north side. I'd like the pic. better if it weren't under construction, though it is a becoming background for the Hammering Man. DVD+ R/W 23:30, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Long-Overdue RfA Thanks from Alphachimp[edit]

Thanks for your support in my not-so-recent RfA, which was successful with a an overwhelmingly flattering and deeply humbling total of 138/2/2 (putting me #10 on the RfA WP:100). I guess infinite monkey theorem has been officially proven. Chimps really can get somewhere on Wikipedia.

With new buttons come great responsibility, and I'll try my best to live up to your expectations. If you need assistance with something, don't hesitate to swing by my talk page or email me (trust me, I do respond :)). The same goes for any complaints or comments in regard to my administrative actions. Remember, I'm here for you.

(Thanks go to Blnguyen for the incredible photo to the right.) alphaChimp laudare 01:15, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks also for all your help before I became an admin. Best Regards, alphaChimp laudare 01:15, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

The Defender of the Wiki Barnstar
I thought you should have this for all your speedy and efficient vandal-booting. Yours has been one of the most frequent names I've seen in my four months here, and I really appreciate the AIV help. The place honestly seems safer when I know you're on RC patrol. Take it easy -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 04:47, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why?[edit]

Why did you delete funkitron? It had a hold on tag on it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dave635 (talkcontribs) .

Sorry, I deleted it, as others before me, under our deletion criteria for reposted material-- see CSD G4. You are welcome to request a deletion review. DVD+ R/W 23:42, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also 131.172.4.44

If you are going to block these IPs (I know you havent yet, but you have warned the first one for vandalism) can you be aware that I use them as well and keep it short - its a university proxy server and is used by about a thousand residents. ViridaeTalk 05:48, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I understand. DVD+ R/W 05:51, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. ViridaeTalk 05:52, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the Welcome![edit]

As the title, I appreciate it a lot! Hopefully I follow all the rules and such, feel free to spot check me for a while :-p I've been using Wiki for a while now but hadn't ever created an account. Thnx again, CheshiresMasquerade 18:59, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Daffodil Friendship Circle[edit]

I can't believe Daffodil Friendship Circle got deleted. We have had numerous verifiable triumphs, and I could have added more and more as the weeks and months went by. The page would have been one of the very finest at Wikipedia.

Oh well, f*ck the haters. DFC is taking over baby! Woooo! Free SRT! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Francismeli (talkcontribs) .

Sorry, please see WP:MUSIC for guidlines on similar articles in the future. DVD+ R/W 04:18, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Michelle Arvizu[edit]

Hi, I'm not sure if Michelle Arvizu really qualified for A7 deletion. Technically speaking, it didn't assert notability, but her IMDB looked okay. Melchoir 04:41, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, I restored it. DVD+ R/W 04:44, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, thanks! Melchoir 05:40, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[copied]
I noticed your copyediting and expansion of this article, as I had it on my watchlist. Immediately, I checked fr:, de:, es:, and it: for interwikis, and am surprised none of them had any, because, well for the obvious reason, that they should have them. Sorry to bother you, continue, you're doing a terrific job. DVD+ R/W 06:16, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

James Denton Images[edit]

Hi there. Sorry to question your authority, but you deleted two images for an entry to James Denton, both for "'No commercial use' or 'by permission' images uploaded after target date." These images are permitted for use, as they are publicity photographs - please could you explain why they were taken down for me, as I'm not sure I quite understand the reason given. Many thanks!

17:21, 8 September 2006 I contacted the copyright holder of the images who gave permission for them to be used on Wikipedia, so I re-uploaded them - hope it's okay now!—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Celentine (talkcontribs) .

I think what you are looking for is this: Wikipedia:Fair_use#Tagging_fair_use_image_files or this: Wikipedia:Image copyright tags. Make sure it is labeled correctly and it probably won't get deleted again. DVD+ R/W 23:40, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism[edit]

Hi there. this diff [4] shows vandalism to the architecture intro section - I was going to place a warning on his talk page, but it's already full of them - I know you're a big gun in the patrol - where should I report this (rather than bother you each time). --Mcginnly | Natter 11:33, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I sent a warning, best place to report obvious vandalism is WP:AIV. DVD+ R/W 14:34, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks. --Mcginnly | Natter 14:58, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Similar to abov, your last block on this editor [5] has just expired and obviously needs renewing. Thanks for your kind words on Belton the other day. Regards Giano | talk 13:00, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
