Smith set[edit]

I like what you've done on Smith set. While I wouldn't be offended if someone decided to merge it with the Smith criterion article, I'm not going to do it—you really do make it worthwhile as its own article.

I like the Kosaraju's algorithm mention, as well. I may explain this one in more depth, since it can be done in the same asymptotic time with a standard version of the algorithm and a postparsing step. CRGreathouse (t | c) 22:41, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Please superspeedydelete that page. It's placement was a mistake. It was intended to be a subpage of my user page in user: namespace. Election box template[edit]

Morning DCary (well, it's morning here anyway :)) I am very interested in the election box template you have posted on the San Francisco mayoral election article. As you may be aware, STV voting systems and their variants are used all over the United Kingdom, including direct elections to Scottish and Welsh assemblies, and next year in London's own assembly and Mayoral elections too. Indeed our first ever directly elected police chief elections in 2012 will be using a form of proportional representation. I would be very interested in trying out the election box to see if it 'fits' the UK's system. New ranked choice[edit]

I was reviewing the newly implemented ranked choice tables, and I appreciate the new look and your hard work. However I noticed that the "r1voteswidth" and "transfervoteswidth" numbers seem somewhat arbitrary, and it would not be intuitive enough for future users. If you can explain where you got those dimensions or if you can use another method of creating those bars, that would be great. --Kurykh (talk) 08:11, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for mentioning this. I had been having troubles doing the calculations in a template, but I've got it working now. See User:DCary/SampleRcvResults for a prototype of the new way. In that example, I have purposely duplicated rows for each candidate as a demonstration that it produces the same results. The first row uses the new templates, the second row uses old templates. Hello DCary, I have been doing what DoktorB suggested above, and made a "Supplementary Vote election box template" announced here: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject Elections and Referendums#Another_new_election_box based on your one. I was thinking both versions could be made into a template that could be used more generally. I don't recognized the term "ranked choice", is it an official one used locally?
