You closed the AfD far too early, half the world hadn't even woken up to see it, and I disagree with SNOW, there was a chance that I would pass, otherwise I wouldn't nominate it. Two users on the talk expressed will towards deletion and you didn't even give them a chance to vote. +Hexagon1 (t) 03:02, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Re:Coaching

Thanks, and same to you. Cheers, Lex T/C Guest Book 20:25, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Zionist attitudes, etc.

In your close of this AfD you seem to be saying that the fact that several editors agreed with the same argument for deletion is evidence of "sockpuppetry". How did you reach that conclusion? Aren't editors allowed to agree with each other? 6SJ7 (talk) 21:05, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

You closed this as keep but also voted in the discussion. This isn't appropriate. Your recent AFD closes seem to be creating more then expected discussion here. I'd suggest going a lot slower with closes and sticking to absolutely non-controversial closes from here on in. Please consider relisting the above article as it is now too late to reopen the discussion. Spartaz Humbug! 09:22, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

You need thicker skin!

Now drop and give me FIFTY!

How in god's name did you come with this as a no-consensus? The deleted arguments were based on policy and the keep arguments were mostly based on proof by assertion or ILIKEIT. Since you can't actually reverse the decision and delete, I'm going to suggest that we take this to DRV. Agree? Spartaz Humbug! 09:26, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry if you took my comments as uncivil but if you want to be an admin you will need to develop a very thick skin. Non-admin closures of AFDs should only be uncontroversial keeps and a no-consensus is by definition not an uncontroversial keep. You should not have closed it and there is no probably about your closing a debate you were a part of. I'll take them to DRV later when I have time to write them up...
If you want to learn more about deletion and consensus you should spend some time at DRV as debates often revolve around process and consensus and its a good way to learn the ropes. Also spend some time reading closure comments by admins dealing with contentious and lengthy AFDs (if you see one on AFD patrol make a note and go back when its closed). That's the best way to learn about how it works. Deletion is invariably an area of friction and, if you are serious in becoming an admin, you should avoid boldness in closing debates. Spartaz Humbug! 20:27, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
Just to let you know, I'm going hold off DRVing those two AFDs to give the Transhumanist a chance to review the concerns and comments I have just left on your coaching page. I am concerned that the advice and encouragement you have had to be bold is not in your best interests. Spartaz Humbug! 20:42, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
I invite you to read my critiques of his closings, and the general advice I provided. If there is anything in particular that I said that you take issue with, please let me know, and we can discuss it.  ;) The Transhumanist 02:16, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Please don't speedy close AfD discussions only seven hours after the article is listed. Corvus cornixtalk 23:09, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

 • I echo the above. We aren't in any hurry. Speedy keeping is for bad faith nominations, disruption, and scenarios where no-one actually wants the article to be deleted. It is not for good faith nominations where at least the nominator wants the article deleted. I've re-opened the discussion. Uncle G (talk) 03:01, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Rudget!

Dear D.M.N., my sincere thanks for your support in my second request for adminship, which ended with 113 supports, 11 opposes, and 4 neutral. I would especially like to thank my admin coach and nominator, Rlevse and Ryan Postlethwaite who in addition to Ioeth all inspired me to run for a second candidacy. I would also like to make a special mention to Phoenix-wiki, Dihyrdogen Monoxide and OhanaUnited who all offered to do co-nominations, but I unfortunately had to decline. I had all these funny ideas that it would fail again, and I was prepared for the worst, but at least it showed that the community really does have something other places don't. Who would have though Gmail would have been so effective? 32 emails in one week! (Even if it does classify some as junk :P) I'm glad that I've been appointed after a nail biting and some might call, decision changing RFA, but if you ever need anything, just get in touch. The very best of luck for 2008 and beyond, Rudget. 16:20, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Keith Ferguson (section)

HI. I noted you closed the above afd. I don't overly disagree with your close, although you should expand on your reasons a bit more, but I think as a non-admin you should avoid closing debates in which you have been involved. It's usually a bad call for an admin to close a debate they've commented in, so a non-admin, should try and avoid anything controversial. Also, you need to remember to subst the deletion templates, and . Anyway, all the best and happy editing. Hiding T 20:35, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

I did the edit, because the column says "Created by". If it said "Expanded by", then it would be correct, however, that's not the case. And he did create the article so his credit should be noted. Lex T/C Guest Book 20:59, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

This and that

You said, "I think some users need to think about the effect their posts can have on others before posting it."

Do you think my post at WP:AN could have been a factor in Rlevse leaving?

Wait ... never mind. My post at AN was at 03:32 20 January 2008 (UTC). Rlevse said "I quit" on AN/I at 03:16 20 January 2008 (UTC) -- before my post.

Well, that's a relief.

OK, I don't have to resign too. (Just kidding: I wouldn't have.)

I really hope Rlevse and Rudget both come back. --Coppertwig (talk) 12:35, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Don't worry about me. I'm fine. I did think you might have meant me, at first, but when I checked the times of the posts I figured that hadn't been what you meant. And I wouldn't have resigned anyway. And I'm not an admin, anyway.  :-) Thinking before posting is always a good idea. --Coppertwig (talk) 12:52, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Alright, I'll ask them to clarify what's going on. I live in Las Vegas, Nevada. As for WWE events, I have attended Vengeance 2004, WrestleMania 21, Royal Rumble (2007), No Way Out (2007), WrestleMania 23, and maybe I'll go to No Way Out (2008). Let me ask, are you one of those fans that boo John Cena, when the WWE is in the U.K.? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 17:25, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Oh wow. See, I'm a baseball fan and I root for my team, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Cena is a Boston Red Sox fan, which they happen to be a team that I despise. But somehow, I'm still a Cena fan. Thanks and I'll see what I can do with SS. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 17:42, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Question: What should I do for Unforgiven (2005)? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 17:56, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

WrestleMania XX reply

I am aware that the article is currently in the process of being expanded. However, regardless of what condition the article is currently in, there is a certain standard format set for all articles to follow. My edits are based on the WP:PW MoS agreed on by the project. If you have any reason as to why you do not agree with the format, I suggest we further discuss this on the article’s talk page. I also do not want this to escalate into an Edit War. I'll be looking forward to seeing the article after its expansion, but even so, there is a certain format it must follow. -- bulletproof 3:16 00:03, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

The only thing you did is revert. Again, the article is supposed to follow a certain format. What you did with December to Dismember is of no concern to the WrestleMania article. -- bulletproof 3:16 10:19, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
It is also supposed to introduce the reader to the content of the article. All you added was note the main events and gave out the results in the intro and add POV note on the Lesnar/Goldberg match. How does that introduce a reader to the article or even summarize the entire event? In the Background section you placed the resulting gross of the event. The Background section is used for noting things that lead up to the event. If you believe your edits in this form will get this article to GA status, I would certainly question your judgment.-- bulletproof 3:16 10:31, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
I was referring to other WrestleMania articles currently in expansion or about to finish being expanded, such as WrestleMania 23. -- bulletproof 3:16 10:33, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
It is the format we use for all PPVs articles including the ones you mentioned. The problem is that you're mixing everything up so bad that it looks nothing like what the format is supposed to be. If you cant see this, then I suggest you re-read what you are typing. -- bulletproof 3:16 10:48, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
That's more like it. It's in much better order. -- bulletproof 3:16 11:05, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Sure no worries. I know it really has been a problem for some. Glad I could help clarify. -- bulletproof 3:16 11:19, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

RfC

I am in fact certain the incomplete RfC in question is aimed at me, and actually saw it earlier when looking over that editor's recent contributions. Thanks for pointing it out to me, though. I presonally am not particularly worried about it, as it hasn't demonstrated the earlier attempts required. I think. Like I said earlier, this individual's conduct is becoming increasingly erratic. Recently, he has arrogantly demanded that I tell him how it was I acquired his e-mail, evidently not knowing that he enabled e-mail. He has also, as per the talk page of Nontrinitarianism, stated that his original contribution to that page was in fact a statement of his own opinion. He has subsequently insulted both me and Logan, questioned our integrity, demanded that Logan produce evidence which he did not see fit to produce himself regarding his own additions, and acted, at best, strangely. Admins

Hi. I suggest one thing you can do is watch the deletion log for admins busy mopping. Ask one if they wouldn't mind if you watched over their shoulder, ie let them throw a few tool-related decisions at you and see if you concur. Speedies, AfD closures, AIV reports, protection requests, that kind of thing. I did that (I called it "sharpening my antennae") before my RfA. The feedback was useful when I got it wrong. --Dweller (talk) 13:01, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

I do a lot of speedy deletion these days. Occasionally, I'm challenged, but it's rare. Hard for you to see 'em, because as a non admin, you can't see them once they're zapped. However, I was challenged for an AfD I listed last night - take a look through my contribs. Another way of doing this with speedies is to peruse CAT:CSD and pick one or two and watch them and see what happens. You'll find the ones that are denied the most instructive. Also, be aware that admins will often have speciality areas and those they won't touch. I find, for example, my fingers are too twitchy with new bands and so I won't delete unless the article is really really really bare and dreadful. On the other hand, I seek out biogs - except musicians'. --Dweller (talk) 14:42, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

Huggle User Category

Hi there. I have seen that you use huggle by the fact that you have automatically updated the huggle white list(it does this when closing huggle). I was wondering if you would add the category to your user page so that it fills out and we know who actually uses huggle. If you do not want to you do not have to. I am also sorry if i have already talked to you about this or you no longer use huggle but i sent it to everyone that has edited the page since mid January. I hope we can start to fill out this category. If you would like to reply to this message then please reply on my talk page as i will probably not check here again. Thanks. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 18:27, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Pseudoscience discretionary sanctions

Hi! As somebody who commented on a January proposal to place all articles related to homeopathy on article probation, I would greatly appreciate your input on a new proposal to help combat disruption that would scrap the probation and implement discretionary sanctions. I apologize for any intrusion, but this is to my knowledge the first time sanctions of this nature have been attempted to be enforced by the community, so I feel that a wide range of opinions is necessary. Thank you in advance for any comments you may make. east718 (talk) 18:59, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Question

I don't really do coaching but it strikes me that your anniversary for being unblocked is only a few months away. If you were still interested in adminship, that would be a good date to retest the waters. If so, you probably need to re-involve yourself in things like AFD, DRV and CSD. If you are interested I can run you through a few scenarios to help you test yourself out. If you want to go alone I strongly advise you to keep a close eye on DRV as the deconstruction of deletion decisions there is highly instructive. Spartaz Humbug! 18:39, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

Hey, please go vote for our project. iMatthew 2008 21:53, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

AFD Reviews

Hi

Please see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Industrial Systems Research. While this is clearly a deletion I wonder if you can work out which arguments are valid and which should be discarded? Spartaz Humbug! 21:57, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

The first delete by Smerdis of Tlön seems fair, but the 2nd delete by SFC9394, doesn't say exactly why he thinks it should be deleted. His decision seems more based on the user's reputation rather than the quality of the article. Even if there is some kind of COI, there might still be some outside sources available to help improve the quality of the article. The third one is OK, yet, sources could still be found (if possible). jonathon also says that it "reads like a publishers catalog", suggesting that it is not in encyclopedic tone. So out of the three, I'd probably discard the 2nd one. D.M.N. (talk) 19:05, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
Close. Personally, I'd discard the first and second deletion votes. COI isn't a reason to delete. Most AFDs come down to notability and verifiability and being a publishing house for nn books can still be notable if someone writes about them... Being written in an unencyclopaedic tone doesn't get you deleted either. The fatal point for this article was the lack of sourcing, Fisher Queen had done a very thorough job looking for sources before nominating which is always a very good thing to see in a nom. Spartaz Humbug! 19:13, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
OK. Thanks, D.M.N. (talk) 19:42, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Also see 9. There is a lot of text here. Which arguments are relevant and which do you think should be discarded? How would you close this one? Spartaz Humbug! 22:03, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

From the outset, there is pretty clearly sockpuppetry your dealing with here. In normal circumstances, I would consider the opinions from the original account, but remove all other accounts created by that particular person. "Dogfit" has a pretty clear COI - "I served in the MFO a couple" - saying he served in the MFO is COI as he is/was closely involed in the subject. As "Moondyne" rightly points out, Glanvis, SigsA, Proqa, Crynt1, Dumbelmore have not contributed much outside the topic. Blatant conflict of interest and potentional sockpuppetry by those accounts.
:That leaves us with 2 delete and 1 merge. If I was left with that, I would delete it, as there are clearly no notable outside sources available. This website is the only references in the article, and that appears to be a government website. D.M.N. (talk) 19:42, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
And so it was closed ;). Excellent analysis. Spartaz Humbug! 22:08, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

AFD Redux

Should we create a subpage to keep these tidy? What do you think about Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Last of The Summer Wine cast members. How would you close this one? Spartaz Humbug! 22:11, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Definite delete. Pretty obviously an indiscriminate list. The second option would be to merge into Last of The Summer Wine, but as one of them commented, that would probably not work. D.M.N. (talk) 14:28, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
 • and this one 10 What should we do with this? Spartaz Humbug! 22:15, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
Delete again. As Phil Bridger shows, sources do exist, but all are from a single book. In my opinion, sources are needed from several different locations to show an articles notability, which this article badly fails. As Chanigo points out, the book sources aren't very reliable. As no one else in the deletion debate has provided different sources, I would say it's a delete. The term in the article seems a little vague, so if it was kept, I suggest that the article should maybe be reworded. D.M.N. (talk) 14:37, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
 • Both spot on. You seem to have the hang of this. Lets try something different. I'll do it on your coaching page Spartaz Humbug! 22:15, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the barnstar. Its cool, man. I know even if you knew me or not, you had to give your opinion on what my failures would be as Admin. Something we have in common. I too, was blocked, see here. But I think your reputation has cooled off. You know, I'm shocked that no one brought up my previous blocks to the discussion. Sorry I totally forgot I'd said that! Thanks for the reminder, I'll have a look through it as soon as I get a chance, and leave any suggestions on the article talk page. One quick comment I'd make, have you considered having something like "* All race results and timings are taken from the Official Formula 1 Website. (cite web |title |url etc.)" at the bottom of the references list, instead of needing to < ref > all the positions and times in the main article text? AlexJ (talk) 21:25, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Ah, yeah. Forgot FOM's website doesn't give quali. results. Ignore that suggestion! AlexJ (talk) 23:30, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
