Thanks for welcoming me, I have edited a little here and then, and I want to do more. I have joined Military History because I know a little about England's wars in the middle ages. I just have a couple questions right now. How is an article moved up from stub-class? And who moves it? Also how do you get those boxes that say your a part of so and so or that you prefer so and so?

Friendly tips[edit]
Hi there Chris141496. I see you've created a user subpage for USS South Dakota (BB-49). I don't want to wreck your plans or anything, but articles about ships that were never completed are ususally redirected to the class page(stuff like USS Kentucky (BB-66) are exceptions). To do this, a person just puts
# REDIRECT [[Name of class page]]
on the article that needs it. So as to not leave you empty handed I could suggest working on other completed (meaning they actually were built) US battleship articles in WP:OMT (like [[USS New Hampshire (BB-25)),(you can join the project also, if you wish, it's suggested). And also, the goals of OMT are to get the articles to either good articles or featured articles, which are articles that are of a much higher length and quality than stubs. Now to answer your two questions that you posted to the welcome message above. You can get the little boxes at WP:USERBOX, where you just plop the code down onto your userpage. Now about the stubs. Military history stubs can be asked to be upgraded at WP:MHAR. If it's other stubs that your looking to review, just ask another editor who you think knows about such stuff, annd if no one answers you, you can review it yourself by changing the
|class=stub
on talk pages of the article to
|class=start,>|class=c,>|class=b,>|class=ga,>|class=a,>|class=fa

B-class[edit]
Hi Chris. I noticed you assessed USS Alabama (BB-8) as B-class; this is problematic because the article is completely unsourced. Sources need to be either books/journals/etc. or reputable websites, and they must have specific footnotes for page numbers. You may want to have a look at the MILHIST B-class requirements before assessing more articles. I know it's exciting to see more boxes on the OMT page turn green or blue, but we need to make sure we turn out the highest quality we can, not just speed things through. - It's no big deal, and I already changed it back so don't worry about it :) The problem with the article as it is now is we don't know what sources are supporting what information. For that, we need inline citations telling us specifically what pages in each book are being used. Parsecboy (talk) 13:15, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, make sure to user <ref>Name of Reference</ref> to cite suorces. Military History project rules state that they should be after a period (not like you did anything wrong regarding that, just a helpful tip). "Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias.
