Photos of Japanese tanks and AFV's

I see you do quite a bit of uploading of Japan government war-time photos for Wikipedia articles. They being public domain according to article 23 of old copyright law of Japan (English translation) and article 2 of supplemental provision of copyright law of Japan. One you uploaded was for the Type 98 20 mm AAG Tank article. I was hoping you might add a photo for that article as to the prior single gun prototype which was designated the Type 98 Ta-Se. I found a photo of it on Taki's Imperial Japanese Army Page, which is also cited in the Wikipedia article. Others that need photos are: Type 5 To-Ku, Type 95 So-Ki, F B, Type 1 Ho-Ki, Type 98 20 mm AA Half-Track Vehicle, Ho-Ri II, variant under the Type 5 Chi-Ri article. I know Taki's has photos he has used on these tanks and vehicles. If you don't want to do it, let me know. I would do it myself but at this time don't have experience in the upload process. March Madness 2017

G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:

• tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
• updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
• creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

Japanese AFV photos

Chris: I see you added a photo to Type 5 To-Ku, not sure that is actually one (look at the chassis, number of road wheels and return rollers); even though I know the caption of the original photo states it is one. But, I am really writing because, I see when you add photos here, you tend to also add them to other Wikipedia articles for other countries that are missing a main photo. If you see some other country Wikipedia articles missing any of the photos I have uploaded on Wikimedia Commons over the last 8 months for IJA and IJN, please feel free to add them to those other articles, as well. Dear Kierzek, thank you very much for your feedback. And though you seem to be right, and I seem to be wrong – I'm glad that there is someone out there helping me to identify those old vehicles. After some extended research I have to confirm that the image I uploaded today seems not to be the Type 5 To-Ku. I will delete it asap. Unfortunately I am not able to find any Type 5 image at the moment. If you find a link please send it to me – I will take care of it. Also, whenever I see that articles of our Wiki-brothers and sisters are missing the image, I always try to care of it. Your help and your comments are much appreciated. You are absolutely right. I went to a bookshop the other day and found a book about tanks. In the book there was an article about the Type 5 showing exactly the image I had uploaded. When I found the image on the internet, with a caption saying it's the Type 5, I was sure I'm doing the right thing. Good work Kierzek! Took the images off the articles. Japanese AFV on Wikipedia.de

Chris: I know you are fluent in German and also post on German Wikipedia. I recall last time I was on there, it has some gaps as far as articles on Japanese AFV and tanks, in particular. I was thinking if you have the time you could translate over some of the English articles with photos to there, even if in abbreviated form; for example, I wrote on one Type 87 Chi-I medium tank, which that Wiki should have. Good job on the German version of the article. Type 87 equals the year of the Emperors rule; Type 87 is for the 2587 Imperial year (1927 or 2nd year of the Showa Era). The matter is discussed some by Hara and on Japanese Wikipedia. BTW-the photos you up loaded are NOT of the Chi-I, but according to Hara's AFV 49 publication are of the subsequent Type 91 experimental heavy tank (page 4). There are some other Type-87 Chi-I photos and as you know the pages are not numbered, but if you count the pages, they are on page 2. Check it and see. "Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias. An initial discussion was has been done between the coordinators and members of WikiProject Military History on English Wikipedia. Now this discussion has been taken to Meta-Wiki. April 2018 Milhist Backlog Drive

G'day all, please be advised that throughout April 2018 the Military history Wikiproject is running its annual backlog elimination drive. This will focus on several key areas:

This is not the sole focus of the edit-a-thon, though, and there are aspects that hopefully will appeal to pretty much everyone.
