ACEC - Adams County Colorado Education Consortium

You tagged ACEC - Adams County Colorado Education Consortium for speedy deletion as a {{db-copyvio}}. CSD A8 only applies in the case of a commercial page, which ACEC isn't. The appropriate tag would have been {{copyvio}}. In practice, however, I doubt that anyone wants to rewrite the ACEC article in their own words, and some people would probably speedily delete the rewritten article as having no assertion of notability, so it really doesn't matter much. Thank you, by the way, for leaving the {{Nothanks-sd}} message on the author's talk page. Need Help On a Jazz Artist Bio

I ran across a link on the Wiki artist list on musician bios needed for the drummer Ari Hoenig - some idiot, and I do mean idiot, from Australia that knows nothing about jazz (by his own admission) designated my page for speedy removal which I have asked be pulled - can you please assist? Thanks. It's idiotic that I should have to spend hours resarching and linking a bio because someone who has no clue doesn't think he's "famous" enough. Absurd!

I looked at everything he did, and I feel that only the most severe warnings are applicable, seeing how he has vandalized numerous pages with that annoying picture. Lincoln Christian College

I feel I need to apologize for the vandalism of the Lincoln Christian College page, as I am a student at the school. I heard about it from the students I believe are responsible, and I went to check it out for myself, but it had already been removed. I don't know what the content was, but I appreciate you cleaning it up.

Cholmes, I'd encourage you to revist the RfA due to additional information regarding the incident surrounding Thatcher131's comment being posted. The comment is fairly out of context, and misses a great deal of the underlying history in the dispute. Thatcher131 was acting in accordance with an ArbCom decision. In fact, User:SPUI has been banned three times due to violation of his probation from the related RfAr. I'm not asking you to change your vote. Regarding your propsal to delete Image:Hanson steelwatertank.jpg

This commenting on a proposed image deletion is completely new to me, so please bear with me. I helped the uploader of the subject image to select the proper licensing after she asked for my help. I firmly believe she had absolutely no intention of 'advertising' the manufacturer of the tank in the image and that it was a completely inadvertent transgression. In order to satisfy your problem with the photo of the pressure vessel, I simply used the Microsoft Paint program to "paint" over the name of the manufacturer that appeared on the tank, and that name no longer appears on the modified photo. I then uploaded the modified photo and retained the same GFDL license provided by the original uploader. I also changed the name of the image to Image:Modified Hanson steelwatertank.jpg.

Unless you have some objection to the modified photo, I will replace the original image in the Pressure vessel and Storage tank articles with the modified image. I will also see that the Hanson name does'nt appear in the image caption. Those articles really need that image! I hope that I have explained the situation adequately. In my opinion, it would have been much easier to handle this by first discussing it on the Pressure vessel discussion page before actually submitting the proposal to delete... especially because the original image uploader probably rarely visits Wikipedia. But that is water under the bridge and I sincerely hope that you have no objection if I replace the original image with the modified image. I will watch this page for your response. • In my view, Wikipedia should not use manipulated photos (such as the photo where the manufacturer's name has been removed using Microsoft Paint) without a very good reason.   In most cases I would agree - but if you look at the original it looks like the name and phone number were added after the fact. The tank is curved and appears at an angle relative to the camera, but the print is perfectly straight. I completely appreciate that the image is probably helpful to the articles in question, but I just don't think that after-the-fact advertising should be permitted.   Cholmes75, thanks for your response. More background may help to allay TruthbringerToronto's concerns. As one of the major editors of the Pressure vessel article, I had asked on that article's talk page if anyone could provide a photo of a new, modern, welded pressure vessel to replace the poor quality photo of an obsolete riveted pressure vessel that the article had at that time. A young woman emailed me and said that the CEO of the Hanson company was willing to furnish a photo such as I had asked for. I responded and told her that her CEO must be willing to license the photo as GFDL which meant that it could be used, distributed and modified by anyone ... and she should make sure that the CEO understood that. She did so and then she uploaded the photo. That original photo is still on Wikipedia. I did not delete it or overwrite it. I gave my modified version a different name when I uploaded it. So you can verify by reading her upload summary that she confirmed that the CEO as having granted permission to license it as GFDL with no disclaimers.

  I had been trying to locate such an excellent photo for quite some time. As I said before, the two articles using Hanson's photo, namely Pressure vessel and Storage tank, need that photo badly. Personally, the fact that the original vessel photo had the Hanson company's name on the vessel did not strike me as being unacceptable. But since Cholmes75 considered that a problem, I decided to modify the photo so as to satisfy his concern ... and I don't think there is anything underhanded about that. Many of the images on Wikipedia are modified versions of original uploads. In fact, I have uploaded some original drawings of my own making that were subsequently modified by others. I thought that one of the major ideas behind the GFDL license was to let people legally modify images. Is that not so? - mbeychok 05:26, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

Image suggestion

I don't know what previous versions of this article looked like, but I think it would have more visual impact if one of the images could be moved to the top of the article. musical decline? yes. commercial decline? no.

The claim that the solo albums "signalled the beginning of their commercial decline" is a matter of opinion. When you reverted my edit, you said "it's covered by multiple sources including "Kiss and Sell" by CK Lendt", and yet those sources are not specifically cited for the statement. And even if it were, the article would need to specifically say that Lendt said that, and not just state it matter-of-factly.

The solo albums, combined, sold as much as the Love Gun album had previously, so there's obviously no commercial decline. (No one could have expected each of the four to sell in the same amount as an actual KISS album.) The problem was the glutting of the market with four solo albums at once, not that KISS was on the decline. Since Dynasty was a success and yielded a hit single plus a successful tour, there's no rational reason to call the solo albums the beginning of their commercial decline, regardless if that's Lendt's opinion or anyone else's. The sales of Unmasked were weaker than any previous KISS album, making it measurably and provably the start of their commercial decline. Songs from the Elder, then, is that decline in full swing.

Now, if you want to talk about a decline in musical quality, then yeah, I think most fans agree the solo albums represent the beginning of that decline. But commercially, no. The experiment of releasing four albums at once failed, but this is no way adds up to commercial decline, because they were still making the same amount of money as before, and in fact went on to even bigger commercial success with Dynasty and its accompaying tour. wikipediatrix 23:47, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

Regarding your response to my message complaining of the removal of ModalJazz.com from the external links area of 3 related jazz articles. I appreciate your comments on submitting external links to multiple pages. So here is my proposal - only include the links on the article "Modal Jazz" and "Kind of Blue" - this link is 100% related to the subject matter and is the only site on the Intenert completely dedicated to modal jazz. The site is informative, eudcational and not spam and a great resource for someone interested in thsi area.
