Welcome[edit]

Hello Che829 and welcome to Wikipedia! I'm glad you've chosen to join us. This is a great project with lots of dedicated people, which might seem intimidating at times, but don't let anything discourage you. Be bold!, explore, and contribute. If you want to learn more,

Wikipedia:Bootcamp teaches you the basics quickly,
Wikipedia:Tutorial is more in-depth, and
Wikipedia:Topical index is exhaustive.

Five Pillars of Wikipedia

Float around for awhile until you find something that tickles your fancy. One easy way to do this is to hit the random page button in the navigation bar to the left. There are also many great committees and groups that focus on particular jobs. My personal favorite stomping grounds are Wikipedia:Translation into English and Wikipedia:Cleanup for sloppy articles. Finally, the Wikimedia Foundation has several other wiki projects that you might enjoy.

There are a few crucial points to keep in mind when editing. Be civil with users, strive to maintain a neutral point of view, verify your information, and show good etiquette like signing your comments with four tildes like this: ~~~~ If you have any more questions, always feel free to ask me anything on my talk page or ask the true experts at Wikipedia:Help desk. Again, welcome! -- Draeco 02:57, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality on Columbus[edit]

Please note that the matter of Columbus's nationality was discussed on Talk:Christopher Columbus, and there was clear consensus to remove it, since Columbus simple wasn't an Italian citizen--he was a citizen of Genoa, which is was an independent "nation" at that time. September 2013[edit]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Cinderella may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • '''''Cinderella,''''' or '''''The Little Glass Slipper''''', ({{lang-fr|Cendrillon, ou La petite Pantoufle de Verre}}, {{lang-it|Cenerentola}}, {{lang-de|
  • * ''A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song'' (also known as ''A Cinderella Story 3'' (2011), a modernization featuring [[Lucy Hale]] and [[

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Warning users[edit]

Information icon Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made to Juno (spacecraft): you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. Kolbasz (talk) 11:07, 5 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"Vandalism"[edit]

I believe it would be much better for everyone if you would stick to this project behaviour guidelines, and not call others good faith editions "vandalism". The change I've made is what is well documented and is written in the body of the article with the proper sources: That Francis Barreto Spinola was son of a Portuguese man from Madeira Island, and that his Italian roots were at least 4 hundred years old. Italian, indeed, he only had his surname. Anyway, you can stick with your POV (for now), I don't care. Some other time I will fix that wrong label, in case nobody has fixed it before. Choosing Categories[edit]

Please use greater care when you choose categories to avoid nonsensical parent categories. Just because they both have the word "cause" in their names does NOT mean that Category:Causes of events is an appropriate parent for Category:Referendums by cause. The latter is, to be sure, a poorly named category, but a cursory look at its contents should have been enough to deter you from adding Category:Causes of events as a parent. Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks![edit]

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!
