AD/CE

Hi Carnun,

Please leave AD/CE conventions in articles as you find them. However it started has priority. Trying to convert Wikipedia to your preference just sparks edit wars.

Please do not make changes in articles that utilize the CE/BCE conventions for dates unless there is a specific reason for doing so. Your edits to Minoan eruption have been reverted. AD/BC v. BCE/CE

Regarding the use of AD/BC as opposed to BCE/CE- this has been a very controversial issue. At present, both systems are acceptable. In general we leave alone whichever system was in place when the article was first written. Constant changing of them promotes edit wars and other problems and is discouraged. I've reverted your BCE/CE -> AD/BC on Aramaic language and have tagged it as vandalism. Please do not do so again as the vast majority of Aramaic literature uses BCE/CE and it is the accepted standard for that field. Thanks! :-) אמר Steve Caruso 17:51, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Hi! It's OK to use BC/AD language on specifically Christian articles, but articles that have substantial Jewish, Moslem, or other religion perspectives use BCE/CE by Wikipedia convention. This includes the Levite article. It also includes articles on shared Hebrew Bible/Old Testament topics. Best, --Shirahadasha 19:20, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

Burma/Myanmar

Please don't change the links Myanmar to Burma. That country is officially known as Myanmar, which is actually just a different romanization of the same original word as Burma. I am opposing that brutal military government of Myanmar as much as you, but Wikipedia tries to keep the neutral viewpoint, thus using Burma as a sign of opposition similar to why the US government continues to use Burma is not possible here. andy 20:23, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

BC/AD vs BCE/CE

Please stop editing articles to change BCE to BC and CE to AD. Wikipedia has no generally established preference for which convention to use, but per WP:DATE it is not considered appropriate to change from one system to another within an article. Please stick with the first selected style. Please also note that continuing to behave like this may be considered disruption to illustrate a point and other admins may take a dimmer view.
