Earth flag and coat of arms

Please don't spam your self-made flag and coat of arms all over Wikipedia. Such flags and coats of arms without any widespread use or recognition should not be used on any Wikipedia pages except userpages. Fram (talk) 07:52, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

I too have a question about the flags you seem to be putting on all the talk pages for countries. Where did they come from? Are they your own work? Self-made images

Please don't add self-made images to articles, unless they are unambiguous representations of (aspects of) the article. Apart from the flags / coat of arms discussed above, an image like you added to Energy being is pure speculation and original research on your part. The "relative size" and the form of an "energy being" is by definition unknown (or wildly varying from story to story), so any image of them is pure fantasy, and not what we want on Wikipedia. Your reply on my user talk page is not convincing. The article does not give a description of what these beings look like (how could it), and your personal interpretation of it adds nothing to the article but a piece of original research. Something like a mermaid or a centaur has a defined image (with variations of course); energy beings don't. Youyr idea of what they might look like is not a valid encyclopedic image. First of all, majority vs. minority is irrelevant, it is not a votecount but a discussion. Second, as an involved editor, you should not be the one to decide the consensus (niether should I), nor to act upon your self-declared consensus. Third, please follow WP:BRD: when you are reverted, don't redo your edit, but discuss things. Finally, if you do want a votecount, I see Fram, JohnBlackburne, Ash, Plvekamp, ScienceApologist and 2over0 opposing; and Camilo Sanchez, Abyssal, Martin Hogbin, Wikigratia, Aladdin Sane, The Good Locust, and Labongo supporting. I urge you to reconsider your position. The article on The Protocols of the Elders of Zion is not an article of antisemitic lies, but an article about antisemitic lies. Bigotry thrives on confusion and doublespeak, and an article about a bigoted idea shows how ridiculous it is by presenting it clearly. I believe that this article is similar. Escudos militares de Colombia

Hola Camilo!

pues los escudos militares que estoy colocando en los artículos corresponden a las versiones heráldicas o sea que tienen los colores correctos sin degradados ni brillos, ademas concuerdan con las descripciones oficiales. Los escudos militares fueron creados teniendo en cuenta la heráldica, sus descripciones manejan el lenguaje técnico y la precisión de dicha ciencia. Te pongo un ejemplo con el escudo de la fuerza aérea, la descripción oficial dice en resumidas cuentas que: es un escudo azul, con un rectángulo amarillo en la parte superior, en el cual irán dos alas de color negro; detrás del escudo estará un águila de color rojo, con la cabeza mirando a la derecha del escudo, el pico abierto mostrando la lengua, con las alas abiertas, la cola esparcida y las dos patas saliendo de los lados inferiores del escudo, por debajo de las alas, que también salen de los lados. El pico, la lengua y las uñas de las garras, irán de color blanco. Las garras sostendrán una cinta ondulada de color amarillo, la cual tendrá un texto en letras mayúsculas y de color púrpura. Además, los escudos que he realizado están basados en los que salen en un libro publicado por los militares, claro que le hago algunas mejoras estéticas.

Sin embargo, y a pesar de que la descripción es muy precisa, el escudo usado por la fuerza aérea en su pagina tampoco cumple con lo indicado. Aunque no es de extrañar, pues en Colombia es muy común ver escudos que no concuerdan con las descripciones, o son mal interpretados, es tanto así que ya varias alcaldías al copiado los escudos que hemos hecho para la Wikipedia. Hi, a couple things:
  • 1) Please do not cut-and-paste articles from one title to another. This is an improper way to move articles, and violates Wikipedia's licensing requirements.

I have been editing in Wikipedia since 2005. Hardly a newbie. My suggestion to delete the article was based on me reading the guidelines of WP:AIRCRASH where I felt the article didn't meet most of the criteria. I have a real life and absolutely no need to test anything. I did what I thought it felt right at the moment. Also. I've commented at the AfD that editors should stick to the issue, and not comment on who holds what opinion. I'm glad that the AfD is being re-run, as that way a proper consensus can be gained. Camilo, I'm replying here not about the AFD as such, which is obviously over, but about a remark in the media which you included in your comment on the AFD: "In my opinion, the damage was not serious and experts have downplayed the damage with statements such as -Friday's accident gives no cause for concern about the structural integrity of airplanes in their early years of service, say some air safety experts.- as sourced from Christian Monitor website here." I read that article, and it sounds like you misinterpreted what the CSM was trying to say there. (I found the way they phrased their statement to be potentially confusing.) That remark was about relatively new aircraft with few flight miles; in other words, "Just because this 737 had a fuselage rupture doesn't mean flyers should worry about every 737--new ones should be fine." The point was that the 737 in this Southwest incident, like many of Southwest's 737s, is rather old and has been in service for many years, which is why it was potentially at risk for an event like this. --Colin Douglas Howell (talk) 17:35, 6 April 2011 (UTC)

FFMM Military Ranks

Hola, Camilo. (Gonna keep it in english as this is the en:wiki) .. Ok, I see your comments on the FFMM ranks page, but so we can coordinate better without adding clutter on that page yet, I have created a sandbox page on my User.. feel free to drop by User:Iceman0108/Sandbox/sandbox5. That way we can discuss easier and then come back to the page with the final edits. I realize part of this discussion may relate to 'personal taste', but we should be able to agree on something that benefits everybody. Now, a few comments on my part:

  • On keeping one big table vs separate tables: I consider separate sections are better, as they allow auto TOC, can be linked/referenced easier, and allow for additional text, references, history, etc to be placed within them. I believe it should be kept separate in the 4 sections, as opposed to a single big table. (And it also makes it easier for edits across the multiple articles and interwikis) - We should keep this.
  • On use of color: I had set that back to standard class='wikitable', as It seemed 'too colorful'. Besides, Manual of Style (WP:COLOR) suggests not to use color as the ony,way to convey information. But perhaps that is too whitewashed, I might agree. On the sandbox5 test page I have made some changes that I believe look better, and help identify the arms without going crazy as a clown. - Let's find a middle ground
  • On the extra lines/insignias: As I said, while I wasn't entirely happy with adding the extra insignias at the time, I did want to keep them so as not to lose additional info, and I had to do it that way in order to be able to reuse the transclusions. But I agree it may get confusing. Reducing the lines means not use transclusion and go back to copy the tables every time. So, what I'd suggest is, keep the 'short' tables in this article, as well as the individual areas of each force, and keep the subpages per arm as 'detail' pages with the additional insignia images. (FAC also has an additional set that wasn't updated quite yet). As much as I hate going back to copypasting the tables 16 times, it seems the only way. - I'll give up this one.
