August 2022[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm ToBeFree. I noticed that you made a comment on the page Talk:Environmental impact of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, and I wanted to thank you for starting a discussion there, but your last sentence there is unnecessarily uncivil. Wikipedia is built on collaboration, so it's one of our core principles to interact with one another in a polite and respectful manner. Best regards, ~ ToBeFree (talk) 21:26, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Avoiding an edit war[edit]

The following advice has been taken from {{uw-ewsoft}}. You have already correctly started a talk page discussion; this message is only meant to make sure that you are aware about the edit warring policy. Edit warring is disruptive and can lead to being blocked from editing even if you are (or strongly believe to be) right about the content. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 21:31, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of an article several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.

All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you.

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for edit warring and violating the three-revert rule. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Daniel Case (talk) 23:02, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 72 hours for edit warring, as you did at Environmental impact of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.

Request reason:

This is preposterous. Someone who is apparently Russian has badly machine-translated reams and reams of non-neutral, often factually incorrect rubbish and added it to an article, without any explanation or consensus. *Almost every single sentence* in the article is now grammatically and/or factually incorrect. This is an outrageous attack on the integrity of the encyclopaedia. It needs to be undone. So I restored the version before this editor made the article nonsensical. But another editor, who also does not speak English and has no previous interest in the article, added all of the ridiculous shit right back without any explanation, and has done the same thing two more times. They also repeatedly and falsely accused me of vandalism. That is another outrageous assault on the integrity of the encyclopaedia. And yet *I* have been blocked. And the *very person who has blocked me* has said "The lead alone is an embarrassment of poor English and bad grammar. I hope someone will address that.". I *did* address that. By blocking me, you've endorsed that embarrassment, and you've endorsed the false accusations of vandalism. Why the *hell* would you do such a thing? If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
