Speedy deletion of Abdurrahman Kızılay[edit]

A tag has been placed on Abdurrahman Kızılay requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. For God's sake everyone knows thereare not more than a few thousand turkomans in whole of iraq, and the whole turkish claim that there are millions of turkomans in Iraq is merely political propaganda.
Wow, everyone! What you are claiming right now, is propaganda too.--Bunifa88 (talk) 01:27, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Also there is not a single verifiable source that approve Turkish sources. Moreover, I added the Western/Turkish based on a verifiable claimsource. Ellipi (talk) 21:13, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
But UNPO is not an academic source. Read wikipedia verifiability. Everybody can add an article to UNPO and for example claim the population of Kurds in Anatolia is 2,000,000,000! Please avoid using random websites with no verifiable sources. Ellipi (talk) 21:29, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, before we go to report this dispute to admins, let me show you this link: http://books.google.com/books?id=Xxp61eBvGzMC&pg=PA11&dq=Turkoman+population+Iraq+western+experts
Ellipi (talk) 21:34, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
There are a lot of sources which explicitly say that Turkish estimates that put population of Iraqi Turkoman at millions are exaggeration and they are no more than 2% percent of the Iraqi population. The article suffers from heavy POV and OR. Ellipi (talk) 09:05, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit you made to the page Iraqi Turkmen has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, please ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thank you. decltype (talk) 18:11, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

My bad. Hope I didn't cause too much trouble. Sorry. decltype (talk) 18:20, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Name[edit]

Iraqi Turkmen or Iraqi Turkman is more correct for them than is Iraqi Turks. Ellipi (talk) 19:38, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Consensus[edit]

I think the major problem in the article Iraqi Turkmen is inclussion of exaggerated figures into the infobox (template). If you agree not to add such a bias figure into the infobox then I have no major concerns with the article. Ellipi (talk) 19:46, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree on moving all details into the section Demography. But please use third-party reliable sources. Ellipi (talk) 20:00, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Their name for themselves as well as the way they have been historically called is Turkman not Turk. at least in nearly all cases this is the reality. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ellipi (talkcontribs) 20:29, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You need to read these articles:
Ellipi (talk) 20:39, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Good, then please try to cite from books or academic references. urls are useful for news or events. Ellipi (talk) 20:43, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I really want admins come and solve the dispute. You are giving too much weight to random links writen by anon users on internet with no source. your url does not cite any sources for its claim, which numerous reliable sources refute to be true. Ellipi (talk) 20:48, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No! It does not. what is its source for its 2.000.000 Turkmans in Iraq! This number was already proven to be an exaggeration by Turkman nationalists and this was agreed upon not to be in the infobox. Ellipi (talk) 20:53, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Flags[edit]

Regarding this edit: There's a pretty decent consensus in WikiProject Ethnic groups for not including the flag of the country of residence or alleged country of ethnic origin in ethnic group infoboxes. See the discussions in Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ethnic groups/Archive 8 for more information. Cheers, cab (talk) 04:19, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Famous people lists[edit]

You wrote: google it then? see Iraqi Turkmens change u did —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bunifa88 (talkcontribs) 08:35, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is the obligation of the editor seeking to add people to lists to supply adequate indicia of notability and connectivity to the topic of the list. If you wish to add Abdurrahman Kızılay, Turkish folk singer and song writer, to the /* Notable Iraqi Turks */ section of the Iraqi Turkmens article, please provide adequate citation to a reliable, verifiable source, in accordance with the Manual of Style. In a Google® search I did see that Abdurrahman Kızılay was a folk singer and song writer; however, I did not see anything that would indicate that he met the standards of notability for musicians and ensembles or notability for composers and lyricists. Additionally, I did not find sources that met the reliablity criteria. Articles should rely on reliable, third-party, published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy. --Bejnar (talk) 02:23, 31 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
