Nomination of Hui 7 for deletion

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Rochambeau in Haiti

Hi there, this is to let you know that I have reverted your change in Jean-Baptiste Donatien de Vimeur, comte de Rochambeau because it is not him who served in Haiti (Source: Perry 2005, p. 79). Thanks. ネイ (talk) 01:25, 28 September 2023 (UTC)

That presents a non-trivial problem. The Wiki page on the St. Domingue revolt mentions Rochambeau repeatedly, and goes into detail about his torture and other racist activities there.

Even more, in addition to other sources, they cite Perry 2005. To be honest, comparing the two pages makes me wonder if it's possible that someone has sanitized the Rochambeau page? BooksXYZ (talk) 16:52, 3 October 2023 (UTC)

Perry 2005, for example, mentions that it's Rocheambeau's son (Donatien-Marie-Joseph de Vimeur, vicomte de Rochambeau, so also "Donatien de Rochambeau"). Father and son having the same name probably caused the confusion. ネイ (talk) 05:51, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
