Velama (caste)[edit]

Please forgive me if this sounds a little nasty but there have been one or more anonymous contributors to the Velama (caste) article who have been making exactly the same type of edits as you did five hours ago. That is, removing valid sourced information and adding people to the list of "notables" when they should not be there. The intent has tended to be for the purposes of caste puffery.

To clarify the situation:

  • If information is supported by citation of reliable source(s) then it is always better to discuss the matter on the article talk page - ie: Talk:Velama (caste) - rather than just remove it. If you do simply remove it then you should add an explanation to the edit summary and you should expect that to be reverted, at which point we would be in the bold, revert, discuss (BRD) cycle and it is generally expected that you would discuss them.
  • For people to be listed in a "notables" section, they must in fact meet our notability guidelines and the fact that they are a member of the caste must be verifiable. In the case of living people, our policy regarding biographies of living people applies and you will need to provide evidence that they have self-identified as a member of the caste. See here for how to provide that evidence.
  • As a consequence of there having been far too many disruptive edits across numerous caste/community articles relating to India, the Wikipedia community has introduced what are called "general sanctions" for such articles. These really do require that you follow our policies etc, as per this notice:

The Wikipedia community has permitted administrators to impose discretionary sanctions on any editor who is active on any page about social groups, explicitly including caste associations and political parties, related to India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. Discretionary sanctions can be used against an editor who repeatedly or seriously fails to adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, any expected standards of behavior, or any normal editorial process. If you engage in further inappropriate behavior in this area, you may be placed under sanctions, which can include blocks, a revert limitation, or an article ban. The discussion leading to the imposition of these sanctions can be read here.

Please familiarise yourself with the information page at Wikipedia:General sanctions.

Feel free to leave a note here if you wish to discuss this message, or to open a discussion at Velama (caste) if you wish to discuss improvements to the article. Thanks. - Sitush (talk) 08:18, 27 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted you again. - Sitush (talk) 09:18, 27 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
And again. Are you going to discuss this or just carry on playing a game of ping-pong? - Sitush (talk) 07:49, 30 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yet another poor edit[edit]

I have now reverted you here. Your contribution was both unsourced and non-neutral. - Sitush (talk) 09:34, 4 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

And the same applies here. - Sitush (talk) 09:36, 4 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've now also reverted you at List of Kapu dynasties. You should not remove sourced content without providing some sort of rationale, either in the edit summary or on the talk page for the article. Sometimes it is best to explain in both places. - Sitush (talk) 16:43, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

May 2012[edit]

This is your only warning; if you vandalize Wikipedia again, as you did at Velama (caste), you may be blocked from editing without further notice.

Your continued abuse of Wikipedia's policies - as in this edit - is becoming very disruptive. Please will you read WP:V, WP:RS and WP:Citing sources and refrain from your apparent campaign until you can comply. Thanks. Sitush (talk) 04:16, 15 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
