Civility

Hi, I just thought I would say that your edit description on The Wicker Man is in my opinion inappropriate. The user who added the image, Davidbspalding, has significantly improved the article since he began work on it. Please keep edit descriptions civil. Thanks. Mallanox 01:01, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Ah, yes. Sorry about that. I meant in no way to offend anyone who made contributions to the article, but the previous caption was very unencyclopedic, or at least seemed that way to me. Although I probably should have kept the crap bit to myself. Again, I must reiterate that I'm sorry to all offended parties, and didn't mean to insult anyone's contributions. --Brandt Luke Zorn 04:30, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi, I undid your edit to make it a redirect to one film. there are actually two films by that name now:

thanks, - Denny 04:05, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Ah, I see. I was fixing a double redirect at Black Sheep (movie) at the time to Black Sheep (1996 film) when I changed that redirect at Black Sheep (film), but even that first one should probably be fixed now. --Brandt Luke Zorn 04:15, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Flocabulary AFD

Hi Brandt. Wanted to give you a heads up on Flocabulary - it doesn't seem WP:A or WP:Not at this point. Mostly, it seems WP:Corp and misses POV. If you want to chew it up a bit, that's fine, but it's tilted enough to warrent afd over cleanup. Christopher Jost 01:57, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

CotW

Hey, would you like to be in charge of updating the Alternative WikiProject Collaboration of the Week every week? Teemu08 takes care of tallying the votes and updating the required fields most of the time, but it seems like he's awfully busy to do it on a regular basis. We just need someone to do it every week in a timely manner. I just updated it for this week, but it's already two days into the week (and all those templates and fields give me a headache). Let me know if you'd be up for taking care of that on a regular basis; it'd be a big help. WesleyDodd s 09:55, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Sure, I could do that. No problem. --Brandt Luke Zorn 14:51, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Alternative music and sources

As part of the Alternative music WikiProject, we're gathering a list of sources on this page. Could you take a look and perhaps add any written references you have access to? Thanks! CloudNine 10:13, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Unfortunately, I do not own any book resources on alternative music or any bands; however, if I do get one I'll try not to get one that somebody else already owns. Either way, that page is a great resource - definitely will come in handy later. --Brandt Luke Zorn 03:40, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Today (song)

Pumpkins songs

I own the Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness guitar songbook, which reprints Billy Corgan's 1996 Guitar World columns and also includes performance notes for many of the songs. I'm a bit busy right now, but if you get to me in a week or so I can help you with some stuff, most notably "Today", for in his first column Corgan discusses how and why he wrote the intro riff to the song. The Siamese Dream songbook also has a track-by-track breakdown; I don't own it anymore, but it's browse-able on Amazon.com. WesleyDodds 10:08, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

Ok, thanks for the info. I'll contact you in about a week. --Brandt Luke Zorn 14:36, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

Congrats on the Adore FA. Drop by the Alt-Rock Wikiproject talk page in order to share your thoughts on possible future FA articles. WesleyDodds 09:11, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

Unfortunately when I looked back at my Mellon Collie songbook I noticed there were no notes from the editor for the song; other songs like "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" and "Zero" have them. The only thing I think that really needs to be mentioned that is indicated by the transcription is that the chorus is in half-time, meaning it's at half the speed of the main song tempo. Notice how the song has a different feel when Billy sings "Tonight . . . to-night" and then the band goes into the second verse ("And you know you're never sure/But you're sure you could be right . . ."; during this part it's back at the regular tempo). As for "Today", the most important thing missing is a table of chart positions. This is a convenient way of indicating chart peaks not just in the US, but around the world (the song charted in the UK, I know that). A soundclip of the song would be beneficial. At this point I think we need different eyes to look at the articles and offer comments. I would suggest asking ShadowHalo, who's written a number of GA and FA-level song articles, to respond to the peer reviews. WesleyDodds 10:31, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Subheaders verses bolding

Hey there. I noticed you reverted my changes to a Pearl Jam (album) that changed bolded text to proper subheaders, commenting that using subheaders was superfluous. Please see WP:MOSHEAD#Markup which explains that subheaders are preferred over bolded text in Wikipedia. Have a nice day. --PEJL 20:10, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Brandt Luke Zorn responded on PEJL's talk page.
(Sorry about the album mix up. I was editing too many pages at once.) The fact that they are "quality" articles doesn't mean that the formatting of them is always correct (example). There are hundreds of album articles (that I know of, probably thousands overall) using subheaders for track listings and credits sections on Wikipedia, so it's not like there isn't precedent for doing that. But whether or not other album articles (quality or not) use subheaders in certain sections is really irrelevant. If those articles need to delimit things into subsections, subheaders is the correct way to do so, and using bold text is not, per WP:MOSHEAD#Markup. The first example you gave should therefore be changed to use proper subheaders (or changed to not delimit things into subsections). --PEJL 23:23, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
I responded on my talk page this time. --PEJL 00:39, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
Brandt Luke Zorn responded on PEJL's talk page.
Great! I'm glad we could work this out. --PEJL 01:23, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

All Music Guide and italicization

Sorry to be such a bother, but I noticed you also changed to make the text "All Music Guide" italic on Ten (Pearl Jam album). All Music Guide is not generally italicized on Wikipedia. See for example All Music Guide, various places in WP:ALBUM and the professional reviews sections of (the majority of) album articles. --PEJL 01:39, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

E-ven floww-ohhhh . . .

I see you're working on Ten. I've got an issue of Guitar World that has a detailed, definitive article on the making of the album. WesleyDodds 07:00, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

That would be great, it definitely needs a "making of" section. In fact, any help would be great. --Brandt Luke Zorn 23:52, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Pearl Jam

The collaboration was very effective, so I think I might put up Pearl Jam for GA nomination soon. Is there anything you can add or you think should be added to the article? WesleyDodds 05:52, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Looks great. Don't see any reason why it wouldn't pass GA with flying colors. The one thing I'd do would be to give the fair use images fair use rationales. Otherwise, the article's ship-shape. --Brandt Luke Zorn 04:58, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

Today

According to the Smashing Pumpkins Discography page, it charted at #44 in the UK, so it wouldn't show up on EveryHit.com, which only contains top 40 hits. I find it odd that US chart placings are so much easier to track down; shouldn't there be a decent UK equivalent? The best I can offer is to try and find some British editors who might be able to verify older charts at a library or from old trade magazines for you. I know a number of British editors, but none that I would think could verify 14 year old non-top 40 UK chart rankings.

Oh, by the way, CloudNine made Image:TodayIntro.JPG for the article. WesleyDodds 23:35, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Here's a good source. It definitely has the "Today" chart-run (#44->#71). CloudNine 19:45, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
Awesome, thanks. I just added the UK chart stuff back in. And thanks for the image, too. --Brandt Luke Zorn 14:51, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Congrats on the succesful FAC. WesleyDodds 06:11, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

User:WesleyDodds said you were looking to take the article to FAC soon and asked me to take a look. It looks very well-done, and I'm sure it would pass. I did some copyediting and came up with some suggestions for the article:

  • It would be very useful to have a 20-second sample of the song. If you don't have Audacity or some other application that can make Ogg files, let me know and I'll create one.
  • The references in the third paragraph of the lead seem excessive since the albums themselves can be considered references. (This is unless any of the albums are rarities where it would be difficult to locate a copy of the album.)
  • The live version is mentioned in the lead but doesn't appear in the article. If the live version is significantly different from the original, consider starting a paragraph about the live version.
  • The second sentence of "Song history" needs to be reworded somehow. Since there's a comma in the phrase "Billy Corgan had become overweight, depressed to the point of contemplating suicide, and was suffering from writer's block", the serial commas should be serial semicolons. Since there's already a semicolon in the sentence, it'd probably be best to try and split it into two sentences.
  • "The reaction from the executives only served to put more stress on Corgan, and he recorded most of the guitar and bass guitar parts himself, including on the finished version of 'Today'." This sentence is unclear. Are these two clauses related? Did Corgan record the parts himself because he was stressed?
  • The sheet music needs a source. If it's from commercial sheet music, the relevant information would be the publisher and year of publication.
  • If there's any information available on the topic, consider including information about how the video was produced. Facts like where it was filmed, who produced the video, or when it was filmed would help make the section more comprehensive.
  • The chart positions in the Reception section should be reworded. Phrases like "received a peak position" seem awkward since songs (ideally) don't really receive positions; they rank at positions. Consider phrases like "peaked at number X" or "reached number X on the".

ShadowHalo 00:28, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

For my own convenience, I'm going to strike out some of these. --Brandt Luke Zorn 01:43, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
I figured it out myself really to be honest. I chose a fair use licence as I guess such transcriptions would be an element of the music and lyrics, which is usually copyrighted to a publishing company. CloudNine 07:57, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Live Forever

I've got to reference some more sources for the article, but do you think you can track down and include any other chart information there might be for "Live Forever"? Most essential is the need for a reliable citation for the UK chart ranking. WesleyDodds 08:19, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

I put a citation for the UK chart listings in for ya. --Brandt Luke Zorn 22:54, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Book suggestion

One book I forgot to suggest before was Jim DeRogatis' Milk It!: Collected Musings on the Alternative Music Explosion of the 90's (2003). Of foremost interest to you are the article he wrote on the making of In Utero (one of only three interviews Kurt Cobain granted around the album's release) and an interview with Billy Corgan where he explains his change of lyric-writing style on Adore (which I've wanted to put into the Adore article for a while, but couldn't quite figure out how.) WesleyDodds 09:12, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, I'll see if I can check it out. --Brandt Luke Zorn 22:54, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Evil_interpol_puppet.JPG

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Evil_interpol_puppet.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 21:31, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

Wow, I must have uploaded that a million years ago. I can't even remember doing it. Oh well. I gave it a fair use rationale, as requested. Sorry about the hassle. --Brandt Luke Zorn 21:41, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

In Utero

Time magazine review from 1993 WesleyDodds 22:14, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

Can you add the necessary citations needed, if you can find them, to the Recording section? Anything you can't cite I'll just rewrite using Come As You Are. I think I'm going to completely rewrite the Pre-release section, unless you have any objections. WesleyDodds 08:39, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
Rewrite away, looks like it could use it. As for the uncited quotes, I recognize a few from my reading and it will just be a matter of finding the page numbers. There are definitely a few that I've never seen, but I'll do the best that I can. --Brandt Luke Zorn 02:17, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Nirvana discogrpahy

I see you're attempting to tackle this monster. You might want to talk to Teemu08; he got Wilco discography to Featured List status, and he has access to Billboard charts. WesleyDodds 09:00, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, I'll talk to him if I need help with it; I modeled a lot of the discography so far after Wilco discography. On an unrelated note, can you fill in the missing references for In Utero? --Brandt Luke Zorn 20:18, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
I'm being sidetracked by the Grunge music FAR at the moment, and I'm trying to address the current project FACs. I'll get back to In Utero as soon as possible. WesleyDodds 21:36, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, I appreciate it. --Brandt Luke Zorn 17:20, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

Loveless

I got the book earlier today in the mail and finished reading it an hour ago. Well worth ordering, I say. That album page will be a future project for sure (and I can most likely count on Ceoil giving a hand). Nevertheless, I've always found Loveless just . . . ok. Honestly, I prefer Ride's Nowhere when it comes to shoegaze opuses. WesleyDodds 10:31, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

The story behind the making of Loveless is oddly similar to the story behind the making of Siamese Dream: rampant perfectionism, one bandmember playing most everything by himself, anxiety about living up to expectations, Alan Moulder, etc. I'd highly recommend Ride. Look up the video for "Vapour Trail" on YouTube; 'twas directed by Kevin Kerslake years before he did videos for Nirvana and the Pumpkins (the "Vapour Trail" video is a clear template for the "Cherub Rock" video). WesleyDodds 10:47, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
Useful link for Pumpkins sales figures I just found. WesleyDodds 11:25, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
I think we should go for Loveless for FA; are you in? Ceoil 14:08, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

"I've always found Loveless just . . . ok" - I've already taken him up on this. If I was an admin, I'd block him for that kind of talk. Ceoil 14:20, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

  • Done ;) By the way, great work with the 33 1/3 page. Much appreciated. CloudNine 19:09, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Nirvana Discography

Wow, I didn't notice it went to hell so quickly. The thing that bugs me the most is that a lot of the external links references are now unformated or replaced by less reliable ones. I would encourage you to just revert it to the way it was before your vacation. WesleyDodds 09:28, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Oi, tell me about it... I'm amazed that basically one anonymous user shot it down in the relatively short amount of time I was gone. I probably won't do one big mass-revert at this point though, because I've pretty much salvaged everything that was lost and I'm going to try and improve it a little more than how it was before based on some of Mr. 83.67.100.248's edits. --Brandt Luke Zorn 09:56, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Loveless COTW

Loveless is this week's collaboration; however, I'll be gone until Sunday. I'll be taking my 33 1/3 book along with me to reread, so do what you can until I come back. I'll be mainly working on the recording section (I'm still trying to mentally sort out the timeline, which is why I need to reread the book); try to cover the critical reception and legacy. Ceoil should be available to help come Friday. In other news, I was telling a friend today about my work on Wikipedia, and he mentioned when looking around the site he thought the Bee Thousand article was well-done. WesleyDodds 08:23, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Alright, cool. I'll be working on it whenever possible. --Brandt Luke Zorn 08:27, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
I have quotes from Billy Corgan and Robert Pollard I'll work in later. WesleyDodds 21:49, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, I also found something which may or may not be able to be worked into the article: Kevin Shields's guitar gear while on tour. There probably should be a section on the tour promoting Loveless, and that would help with it. --Brandt Luke Zorn 06:10, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

"Music" section is done for now, and I've put my quotes in the "Legacy" section. Once I finish with the "Recording" section, I think we just need to fix up the lead and we can submit it to GAC, unless you want to skip that. WesleyDodds 06:38, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

I appreciate all your help and hope school won't hold you back too much. I could definitely use your help on current collaboration Nirvana. I want to focus on crafting "Musical style and influences" and "legacy" sections on one of my user page, so any help in other areas of the article would be much appreciated. Maybe you could cut and paste some of the citations from Nirvana discography into the article? WesleyDodds 07:51, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:Blakealex2.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Blakealex2.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Carl (CBM · talk) 19:46, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

Discography and songs

I really hope you renominate Nirvana discography soon. It's looking insanely good.

I'm almost done with the Grunge music FAR/FARC. Once that's done my main focus will be Joy Division (Ceoil told me to hold off a bit on Loveless until he got around to sourcing a book he owns). I was wondering though, since you got "Today" to FA and because we should do more work for the Nirvana taskforce, if you want to work on a Nirvana song article. I think all the major-label Nirvana singles can be FA articles, and we should aim to make all Nirvana song articles GA class as a long-term goal. Personally, I'm leaning towards working on "Heart-Shaped Box" (I have the Anton Corbijn video collection, and was watching the video the other day), but if there's a song that interests you more bring it up. WesleyDodds 09:25, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, we really need to get the Nirvana taskforce kicked into high gear. I could go for "Heart-Shaped Box". At one point I was going to work on "Love Buzz" but slacked off and it went nowhere. I still think that we need to get In Utero to at least GA. --Brandt Luke Zorn 05:10, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
I'll do some fixes on "Heart-Shaped Box" right now. The convenient thing is researching that song also involves research for In Utero. WesleyDodds 06:53, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

Why not do a list of Smashing Pumpkins tours instead? WesleyDodds 06:27, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

While there's been a lot written about Nirvana, there's a few Nirvana song articles that aren't that notable and could probably be merged into other articles (I'm thinkin "Raunchola" for one). This would be rather bold; what do you think? WesleyDodds 06:03, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Turned quite a few song pages into redirects; mainly the obivous stuff like really rare songs that no one but hardcore fans would care about. Feel free to mention any other Nirvana songs you think should be redirected. WesleyDodds 07:10, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
My edits were just reverted. I explained to the editor why they were turned into redirects, so hoepfully this will be undone quickly. Seriously, something like The Other Improv really is not notable enough to be an article. WesleyDodds 23:49, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Make-Up FAC/FLC

I just wanted to let you know that I hid your comments on the Make-Up FAC and the Make-Up discography FLC, since everything has been taken care of and it makes things a little bit easier to read for any other reviewers. That and the pretty colors might draw a few more people to comment. =) So, if you don't want them hidden for whatever reason, please feel free to unhide them. I just wanted to let you know that I did it to make things a bit more manageable and not to discount all of your valid points. Thanks! Drewcifer 01:17, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Also thanks for you comments on the NIN FAC, I'm still working on addressing them. Drewcifer 01:18, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
Oh no, not at all, go right ahead. Both of those pages, particularly the discography, need quite a few votes in a short amount of time; anything to encourage voting is fine by me. --Brandt Luke Zorn 02:00, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Question

I see you made a change to the ref on the James Robert Baker article. My question is whether you think the parenthetical definition of beatnik is even necessary. I thought it absurd when I was asked to include it, but felt there was no choice since it was nominated for GA at the time and was told that the term was too obscure, even with the wikilink. A year later, I wouldn't mind if it was removed, as it seems to assume incompetence in the reader. Jeffpw 04:27, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Honestly, I have no knowledge the article's subject whatsoever. I was just moving the reference past punctuation, which is a general MoS thing. Personally, I don't think that the term "beatnik", especially when the word is linked, is anywhere near obscure enough to have to define in a parenthetical break, but I may not be the one to ask. --Brandt Luke Zorn 04:54, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

The Reputation is saved!

I'm happy to say The Reputation has been kept as a GA article. Excellent work! Drewcifer 07:18, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Frusciante discography FLC

When you aren't too busy, would you be willing to weigh in on the John Frusciante FLC? You seem to have some experience with featured discographies, and this one could really use some more feedback. I'll be glad to return the favor by commenting on one of your projects that isn't getting much exposure; or in some other way if you need. Thanks a bunch. Grim 04:50, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Awesome, your feedback is most helpful and appreciated. If there's anything in addition to FAC commentary I can be of service with, please be sure to let me know. Grim 06:10, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Done and thanks. Also, in the future, whenever you plan on working on TSP discography, I'm interested. NSR77 TC 22:39, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Nirvana Discography has been passed as a featured list. Congratulations, and thanks for your hard work. Cheers, ➪HiDrNick! 16:19, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Pumpkins Discography

Yeah, definitely. I'm currently working on the Chili Peppers' one so I am in that "discography writing" train of though. NSR77 TC 10:46, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

Because it interests me, I think I'll work out the b-sides chart over the weekend. WesleyDodds 23:49, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

There's a couple items I'm not sure how to address. For starters:

  • How should remix b-sides be listed? "1979", "The End Is the Beginning Is the End", and "Perfect" have special remix singles that remix the title tracks.
  • Should we acknowledge that certain b-sides are only on certain formats of a given single? (ie. 7" vinyl, 12" vinyl)
  • The TAFH booklet mentions that vinyl copies of Pisces Iscariot included a free 7" single that had "Not Worth Asking" backed with "Honeyspider II". Where should that be listed? WesleyDodds 03:21, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Some things:

  • "Rhinoceros" and Lull: "Rhinoceros" charted on the Modern Rock charts, not Lull, because the Modern Rock charts are based solely on airplay, not sales. The DJs could've pulled the song from either Gish or Lull. The charts for "Rhinoceros" and Lull are thus two different things.
  • Both the first "I Am One" single and the "Tristessa" single are different recordings than the ones on Gish (for example, the first version of "I Am One" is a tad slower and, uh, not as good). Should we list these as non-album singles? WesleyDodds 23:06, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

FL Main page proposal

You either nominated a WP:FLC or closed such a nomination recently. As such, you are the type of editor whose opinion I am soliciting. We now have over 400 featured lists and seem to be promoting in excess of 30 per month of late (41 in August and 42 in September). When Today's featured article (TFA) started (2004-02-22), they only had about 200 featured articles and were barely promoting 20 new ones per month. I think the quality of featured lists is at least as good as the quality of featured articles was when they started appearing on the main page. Thus, I am ready to open debate on a proposal to institute a List of the Day on the main page with nominations starting November 1 2007, voting starting December 1 2007 and main page appearances starting January 1 2008. For brevity, the proposal page does not discuss the details of eventual main page content, but since the work has already been done, you should consider this proposal assuming the eventual content will resemble the current content at the featured content page. Such output would probably start at the bottom of the main page. The proposal page does not debate whether starting with weekly list main page entries would be better than daily entries. However, I suspect persons in favor of weekly lists are really voicing opinions against lists on the main page since neither TFA nor Picture of the day started as weekly endeavors, to the best of my knowledge. See the List of the Day proposal and comment at WP:LOTDP and its talk page.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 19:45, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Hi!, thanks for your feedback on the FA nomination :). I have now addressed the points if you would like to review the list again :).Marcus Bowen 13:56, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

For your extensive work with music articles, especially with alt rock articles and WikiProject Alternative music. Your work on the Smashing Pumpkins related articles, in particular, has been exemplary! Keep up the good work.-Werideatdusk33 04:32, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Pavement discography

Sure thing. I sill owe you for the Frusciante discography. I'm glad you said something. I just looked over the article and put in a review. Grim 06:33, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

LOTD proposal

You have nominated a recent successful WP:FL. There have been two recent proposals to begin a List of the Day feature on the main page, which have both received majorities but have not been approved as overwhelming support sufficient for the main page. WP:LOTDP is a new proposal to try to get the ball rolling based on the original proposal. Voice your thoughts on its talk page.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 21:06, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

MBV reunited

New album's almost done, too! WesleyDodds 01:40, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

There'll probably be someone who'll make it, even though the only verifiable information that exists right now is "We're making an album, and it's 75% done, and it's coming out in like a month."
I hate pages about upcoming albums. WesleyDodds 01:52, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
By the way, if we fix up the lead and the first paragraph in the "Reception" section, Loveless could be ready for GAC (yes, I know it's backlogged). WesleyDodds 02:16, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
I'll get on it after I get some dinner right now. Any other albums you want me to included quotes about while I have the issue out? WesleyDodds 03:44, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
Slanted and Enchanted is at #4; all top ten entries got around three paragraphs to a full page. WesleyDodds 03:53, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Not sure how you can use this in the article, so I'll just post it here for you:

94. Slint - Spiderland
A mysterious little record that bubbled up from Louisville, Kentucky (and seminal punk outfit Squirrel Bait), it sounds kinda like mid-'70s King Crimson gone emo: screeching guitar chords and gorgeous note-spinning in odd-metered instrumentals speckled with words both spoken and sung. Guitarist Dave Pajo would later help create Tortoise, whose "post-rock" is encoded here. Recently reunited for a one-shot tour, Slint found a cult in the tens of thousands. Then they broke up again, wisely letting the mystery be. (Hermes, Will. "Slint - Spiderland". Spin. July 2005.) WesleyDodds 10:17, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Also: Just put up Loveless at GAC. I fixed the "Reception" paragraph (and added the original NME review) and tweaked the lead a bit. See if you can do some further work on the lead. WesleyDodds 11:27, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

I just noticed that there's no mention of chart positions. I don't think it charted in the US, but I'm pretty sure it hit the top 20 in the UK. WesleyDodds 11:43, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
I think it might be in the 33 /13 book. I'll have to check in a bit. WesleyDodds 00:55, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
Didn't find anything about sales in the book. Crap. WesleyDodds 03:36, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
Wait: Rolling Stone has something. They don't specify if it's total sales or country-specific, though. WesleyDodds 03:41, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
They give Nevermind as 7,918,000 sold, and Thriller as 26 million, which sound like US numbers. Argghhh -racks brain- I'll leave it up to you to decide what to do about the sales, but I'll try looking for more precise figures. WesleyDodds 04:04, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

Article assessment - We Got to Do Better
