Minor means minor[edit]

See WP:MINOR for when to tag your edits as minor. David notMD (talk) 22:18, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Just curious[edit]

Is your intent to nominate Bash for Good Article status? Asking because when an editor makes so many edits to what is already B-class, that is their intent. If so, good luck! I've done several GAs, and always consider the effort a useful contribution to Wikipedia. David notMD (talk) 07:49, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The article has more than a dozen hyperlinks, in Lead, toward end, elsewhere, all of which must be removed. Perhaps some of those URLs can become references?
You created Program name, but be aware that on the current Talk page and the #1 archive there are several heated discussions disputing "born again", so be sure of your references before committing to this being the hill you are prepared to die on, so to speak. In any event, I just want for the information to be accurate, even if it's just a raw list of known facts. I really don't have any interest in dying on any hill one way or the other. Blush30720 (talk) 00:00, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, The thought had crossed my mind, about GA status, when I learned about how there are differing statuses or classes of articles, but I really haven't given it so much thought since then. More than anything, I find myself motivated by my own experience of how I learned bash: as a total newbie staring at a completely foreign terminal emulator guessing at how to interact with the program. If anything, I would like for there to be some documentation somewhere that could possibly answer some of the questions I faced while learning it, and that such documentation could be easy to find. This wiki page seemed pretty abandoned when I picked it up. Perhaps some part of this page could be useful for something like that.
A few of the references really do need some work: it's true.
Very good point, and thank you for mentioning those heated discussions: I'd neglected them earlier. I have a B.A. in Drama, so I attempted in that section on Program Name to approach this question from a textual analysis perspective. Those paragraphs are kind of a mixed example of the kinds of writing I was taught in my 300 & 400 level theory and practicum courses. When preparing to perform Shakespeare, for instance, identifying and considering the possible meanings of poetic devices is a vitally illuminating part of the preparation process. A few of the other points were drawn from the kinds of analysis commonly undertaken when directing full productions and analyzing classic plays (such as ancient Greek tragedy or early 20th century French realism) for more purely academic or dramaturgical purposes.
On the other hand, I happen to have an enduring interest in comparative religion and ethics as well. I realize that the phrase "born again," or perhaps more accurately how such a phrase can be used, can become somewhat contentious from time to time. This is why I tried to provide some sense of detachment within the discussion of the program name. How the text could be read and interpreted by just any random anglophone on the planet may be one thing, while, if someone has any personal experience at all with that particular phrase, their personal feelings, conscious or otherwise, may be something quite different from what a so-called "uninitiated" individual might consider to be "neutral," in my opinion. Dembo[edit]

NOT how refereences are done, so all reverted. See Help:Referencing for beginners for how to format a ref. I found better to practice in my own Sandbox until I get it right, then insert into text. Also, refs are not required in the Lead as long as the same information is covered at greater length in the body of the article and referenced there. The URLs I deleted can be recovered from View history if you wish to try again. David notMD (talk) 03:38, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Same for all the other articles you added flawed ref format refs. David notMD (talk) 03:49, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. I read the Help article and am starting a Sandbox page. Thx Blush30720 (talk) 03:52, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
On Dembo's page. Trying to verify his previous position as a Yale professor. I added a provisional citation, pointing to list of "All People" from Yale Computer Science Dept. This website includes "Emeritus Faculty," however Mr. Dembo is amsent from this list. Just for the record. Blush30720 (talk) 20:18, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
