Deleting sections from Igbo people[edit]

Please do not delete content from pages on Wikipedia without explaining the reason for the removal in the edit summary. Unexplained removal of content does not appear constructive, and your edit has been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox for test edits. Thank you.

Unexplained blanking[edit]

There are times when it is useful to remove entire sectins of articles—because they're wrong, improperly point of view, give undue weight to some area, constitute an attack page and so on. However, unless you give a good reason for removing large portions of content from Igbo people, as you have now quite a few times without as far as I can tell, an explanation either in the edit summary or to the article's talk page, it will be reverted, considered vandalism, and you may be blocked from editing. Please make your edits transparent by explaining your reasoning. It may be that others will agree with your edits once shown that they have a valid basis.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 16:32, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Continued blanking without explanation[edit]

Please stop. If you continue to blank out or delete portions of page content, templates or other materials from Wikipedia, as you did to Igbo people, you will be blocked from editing. --Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 03:50, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Blanking again, last warning[edit]

Hi again Bill. Based on the edits of 75.118.53.189, I have to assume that is your ip address and impute any edits made by it to you. This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
The next time you delete or blank page contents or templates from Wikipedia as you did to Igbo people you will be blocked from editing. I want to ask you again to explain your edits. I have no familiarity with this subject area so I can't make any sort of informed evaluation of whether the large swath of content you keep blanking has a glaring problem. If their is a legitimate reason for your removal please advise. In its absence, I can only treat it as blanking vandalism.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 14:54, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notice[edit]

I've brought up your continuously disruptive edits from multiple accounts and IPs at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Disruption by Bill edmond. Picaroon (t) 18:24, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 1 month in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for general disruption: blanking portions of text in articles such as Igbo people, refusing to engage in any discussion about your rationale, and violating the spirit of 3RR. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make constructive contributions. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below. Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 16:58, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Given that you have already been blocked for this in the past, I would strongly suggest that you stop. This is certainly grounds for another block, and if you do it again, I, for one, will not hesitate to block you.
This is your last warning.
The next time you vandalize a page, as you did to Igbo, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. - Jmabel | Talk 17:26, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Oru na Nneude[edit]

I have nominated Oru na Nneude, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Oru na Nneude. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Removal of red links from Imo State[edit]

Although many articles aren't very well maintained, lists should only include WP:NOTABLE entities (in this case, people with an article). See Wikipedia:List#Listed_items. Please stop reverting my changes to Imo State. I'm only removing entries without articles. Thanks. Delicious carbuncle (talk) 20:04, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

eBay links[edit]

Please do not add eBay links to articles, as you did to Imo State, Igbo people, and Ezebuiro Obinna. They are considered spam on WP. See WP:ELNO. Thanks. Delicious carbuncle (talk) 20:18, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

June 2008[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Imo State. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Please read the messages I've left for you above. Delicious carbuncle (talk) 11:05, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Ezebuiro Obinna. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. License tagging for File:The Ultimate Dr. Sir Warrior4c.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:The Ultimate Dr. Sir Warrior4c.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 02:05, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your uploads[edit]

Good day. I see that you have uploaded a number of images to Wikipedia. First off, thank you for your contributions. Unfortunately, there are some guidelines that we need to follow with copyrighted images. Specifically, you need to add a source for the image (a link to a website will do), a copyright tag (there are some listed at WP:ICT), and a rationale explaining why we can use a copyrighted image (explained at WP:NFURG). I see that your images fail to include one of these. Please stop uploading images and address the concerns listed above. If you need assistance, you can ask at the help desk. If you do not fix these images, and you continue to make bad uploads, you will be blocked and your images will be deleted. Thanks for your contributions! Speedy deletion nomination of Exalgo[edit]

A tag has been placed on Exalgo, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Copyright[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions to the article Exalgo, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition was deleted under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text—which means allowing other people to modify it—then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You may also e-mail or mail the Foundation to release the content. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more.

While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with our copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright concerns very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here. You can also leave a message on my talk page. CIreland (talk) 14:49, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced addition here[edit]

Hi there. With this and subsequent edits from December 14 2007 you added the "Origin" section into the Owerri article. Unfortunately the entire section is unsourced. All material added into Wikipedia articles must be properly backed up by reliable and verifiable sources. Since this is not the case I have tagged the Origins section with the 'Unreferenced section' template, and would ask you to please provide the required reliable verifiable sources for your addition. If no sources are provided for the Origin section then the unsourced material will have to be deleted from the article. Thank you. Amsaim (talk) 21:18, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Imo State. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Amsaim (talk) 21:00, 19 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:The Ultimate Dr. Sir Warrior6.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:The Ultimate Dr. Sir Warrior6.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Copyrights[edit]

When adding links to material on external sites, please ensure that the external site is not violating the creator's copyright. Linking to websites that display copyrighted works is acceptable as long as the website's operator has created or licensed the work. Knowingly directing others to a site that violates copyright may be considered contributory infringement. This is particularly relevant when linking to sites such as YouTube, where due care should be taken to avoid linking to material that violates its creator's copyright. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Toccata quarta (talk) 17:36, 22 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please acquaint yourself with Wikipedia's 5 pillars[edit]

Hi there.

You have repeatedly added unsourced material into various Wikipedia articles. Your additions violate against Wikipedia's three Core content policies:

  1. Neutral point of view (WP:NPOV) – All Wikipedia articles and other encyclopedic content must be written from a neutral point of view, representing significant views fairly, proportionately and without bias.
  2. Verifiability (WP:VER) – Material challenged or likely to be challenged, and all quotations, must be attributed to a reliable, published source. In Wikipedia, verifiability means that people reading and editing the encyclopedia can check that information comes from a reliable source.
  3. No original research (WP:NOR) – Wikipedia does not publish original thought: all material in Wikipedia must be attributable to a reliable, published source. Articles may not contain any new analysis or synthesis of published material that serves to advance a position not clearly advanced by the sources.

Your repeated unsourced additions of the word "igbo" in Nigerian city & town related articles suggest that you are trying to force your own point of view unto the articles. This is not how Wikipedia works.

I have gone through your recent 100 contributions and had to revert and remove several unsourced additions of yours.

Please take some time and thoroughly familiarize yourself with Wikipedia's 5 Pillars of Editing before editing any Wikipedia article again.

Understand this, that if you should continue to add unsourced material into Wikipedia articles, or if you continue to push your own point of view into Nigerian city & town articles, or if you continue to add your own original research into any Wikipedia article, you will be reported to the Administrator's board.

Thank you. 93.133.28.189 (talk) 13:38, 6 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Addition of unsourced material[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm 77.4.191.94. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Igbanke, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. 77.4.191.94 (talk) 17:57, 7 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Urhobo people, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. 77.4.139.67 (talk) 10:27, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did to Kingdom of Bonny. This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. 77.4.180.107 (talk) 09:07, 9 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you add unsourced material to Wikipedia, as you did at Opobo. 77.4.180.107 (talk) 09:09, 9 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. You can reach the discussion here. Thank you. 77.4.178.87 (talk) 17:47, 10 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Igbo Akiri[edit]

The article Igbo Akiri has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced. Editor blocked indefinitely for POV warring,

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Request reason:

Distinguished leaders and authorities of Wikipedia, men of goodwill and excellence, ladies and gentlemen, and to all the readers of Wikipedia, I hereby make a humble statement to you all, that my contributions in Wikipedia are thoroughly researched and are based on good intention to educate and expand the knowledge database of the whole world. I am a bonafide indigene of the communities I write about, so I completely understand the category and history of the topics I contribute. As you know, in certain situations, previous contributors might misspell the names of certain communities. So, I as an indigenous authority of such communities will do my best to edit the page and correct the misspelled words. Such situations should not be viewed as a violation. My intention is a clear and elegant one. I always make my contributions simple and easy to understand, and in many occasions, I usually back up my contributions with quotations and academic citations. I am one of you, and I have good insights and good contributions. Kindly unblock me. I will always work with you to improve Wikipedia. Thanks. Sincerely, Bill Edmond. If you want to be unblock, you'll need to agree to start editing collaboratively; that is, stop ignoring the numerous warnings you've been given regarding edit-warring and addition of unsourced material. OhNoitsJamie Talk 16:27, 16 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

The problem here is that you are trying to reassure us that you are always right. That isn't an effective way to get unblocked. Right or wrong, when someone reverts you, you have to communicate with them, discuss it. Accept the opportunity to persuade, yet accept the situation when consensus is against you. And with all due respect, I find it difficult to believe that is your normal diction, else you would be airing it more regularly. Before this is formally reviewed, maybe you could expand a bit, in plain English, on how you expect to move forward. Dennis Brown - 15:53, 16 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Bill edmond's unblock request indicates that this editor appears to be knee-deep in a conflict of interest. His past edits strongly suggest that he is on a mission to place the words "igbo town", "igbo city" into the opening sentence of the lead section of Nigerian city articles without providing any references for his edits.

Apparently he does not understand why he is being blocked. In his unblock request, he points his fingers at others, accusing them of "misspelling the names of certain communities". That's not why he was reported to WP:ANI. He was reported because he repeatedly added unsourced material into Nigerian City and town articles; unsourced material which ulitmately leads to an additional violation of Wikipedia's Core content policies of WP:NPOV and WP:OR.

To this editor, Wikipedia policies and guidelines seem to be irrelevant. Why else will he not mention at least one of them in his unblock request? What appears to be relevant to him is his claim of being "an indigenous authority" and "a bonafide indigene".

A Wikipedia editor who does not acknowledge Wikipedia's policies and guidelines should not be permitted to edit Wikipedia articles. Even if an administrator should agree to unblock Bill edmond, this editor should receive a topic ban and be prohibited from editing Nigerian city and town related articles. 77.4.183.67 (talk) 12:08, 17 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

In the past few days, I have taken my time to study Wikipedia's guidelines and policies. I have learned a lot from your advice. I will always follow the rules and I will always try to provide references for my edits. I am not perfect, but I am still one of you. We will always learn from each other in this ever-evolving world of information. I will always work with you to improve Wikipedia in a good manner. Unblock me. Thanks for your gentle consideration. Comment: For the second time in a row, in his second unblock request, editor Bill edmond has again failed to address the reason for his block, as given by the blocking admin Black Kite: persistent disruptive editing (based upon this report at WP:ANI). Bill edmond's promise that "he will always try to provide references for his edits" is not encouraging at all, because references must be provided at all times, most especially in controversial cases. I would like to again appeal to the Admins to strongly consider a topic ban on Nigerian City articles for Bill edmond if an admin should consider unblocking him. Thank you. 93.133.23.16 (talk) 09:06, 18 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Moderators and well-wishers of Wikipedia, I appeal to you to unblock me. I have learned from my mistakes, and I will follow the rules of Wikipedia at all times. I have taken about two months to study the rules, and I have learnt a lot of excellent guidelines. The advice you gave me has helped me a lot. I will always make good contributions, and most especially, I will provide references at all times. Thanks for your considerations.

Had you really read our policies for 2 months, you would have noticed that we have no moderators here. This request does not strike me as a sincere one and thus I'm declining it. Max Semenik (talk) 11:59, 8 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Administrators, I will always follow the fundamental principles of Wikipedia. I completely agree with the guidelines the administrators are giving me. I appreciate your time and efforts in making sure that Wikipedia evolves the right way. One of the principles of Wikipedia says that "All articles must strive for verifiable accuracy, citing reliable, authoritative sources", and I will always maintain this rule. I am here to learn as well as contribute my knowledge according to Wikipedia principles. In the past, there were some edits I made without providing sources. You corrected me, and I have learnt the right procedures. Nobody is perfect. Nobody knows it all. I treat my fellow editors with respect and civility, and I expect my fellow editors to treat me with respect and civility as well. We will always learn from each other. I am making this appeal with the purest sincerity. Unblock me. Thanks. Bill edmond (talk) 02:47, 16 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Bill edmond, please answer those questions in detail (not just yes/no) if you want to be unblocked:

  1. Do you understand the reason you were blocked?
  2. Do you understand that Wikipedia is collaborative project and that you have to discuss your edits with other editors?
  3. What will you change in your behavior if unblocked?
  4. Do you agree to be subjected to a WP:topic ban from all edits related to the Igbo people (broadly construed)? Vanjagenije (talk) 15:47, 16 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
