Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

hi. Not sure why I have been blocked. I am not being paid, by Suzanne Rogers, nor do I have a relationship with her. I just believe she has done some amazing work for fashion industry. She made a mistake (which she apologized for) and I believe the content on her wiki page is NOT balanced.Bethcedits (talk) 17:50, 14 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, Bethcedits. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Suzanne A. Rogers, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Ifnord (talk) 17:36, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

June 2021[edit]

Information icon

As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Bethcedits, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Bethcedits|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. Ifnord (talk) 17:55, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely for advertising or promotion and violating the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use. This is because you have been making promotional edits to topics in which you have a financial stake, yet you have failed to adhere to the mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a form of conflict of interest (COI) editing which involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is strictly prohibited. Using this site for advertising or promotion is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia.

If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, please read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock|reason=your reason here ~~~~}} at the end of your user talk page. For that request to be considered, you must:

  • Confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements.
  • State clearly how you are being compensated for your edits, and describe any affiliation or conflict of interest you might have with the subjects you have written about.
  • Describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future.

Request reason:

I am not being paid, nor do I have a relationship with Ms Rogers. I do however, believe her page should be accurate and balanced. Bethcedits (talk) 17:54, 14 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

User is unresponsive. Yamla (talk) 11:41, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Wikipedia is interested in summarizing what independent reliable sources state about a topic, providing due weight to how topics are covered. Wikipedia does not claim to be free of bias and does not provide equal time to all points of view if reliable sources do not.
