September 2012[edit]

Hello, I'm MrOllie. I wanted to let you know that I removed an external link you added, because to me it seemed inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. MrOllie (talk) 05:16, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 20:41, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm FisherQueen. I noticed that you made a comment on the page User talk:MrOllie that didn't seem very civil. Wikipedia needs people like you and me to collaborate, so it’s one of our core principles to interact with one another in a polite and respectful manner. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 20:41, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I saw your note here, and I can see that you're frustrated and angry. However, User:MrOllie didn't make up Wikipedia's rules himself, and it looks like you may not be familiar with the rules yet. Rather than insulting another editor, why not try to learn from him? I've put a welcome message at the talk of your user page, so you can read some more of the rules for yourself, and get a better idea about what kinds of subjects are useful to add to an encyclopedia. Under the conflict of interest guidelines, we all try to avoid writing about our own employers. Right now, you're presenting the appearance of someone who is promoting some specific links, probably to your own employer, and I'm sure that isn't what you intended. I'm sure you can imagine how much trouble Wikipedia has with promotion, which is why we have so many rules about it! If you're interested in firefighting and want to make the encyclopedia better, why not try some of the articles that aren't directly related to firefighting in your city? You should find a list of articles at Wikipedia:WikiProject Fire Service that might be interesting to you and need work. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 20:47, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
