I have nominated 2009 Shishou riot, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2009 Shishou riot. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. mhking (talk) 03:23, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

Your image, File:HK1997a.jpg, was said to be released into public domain by Ken Mentz. But I cannot find any evidence at [1] that he released it into PD. Can you please kindly put the evidence on the image page. Cheers. --Jackl 04:29, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

In 2007 when the photo was uploaded, ibiblio was part of the free media domain. There was nothing wrong with it. It may not be true anymore. Benjwong (talk) 03:46, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Hu Haifeng

Hi. At Hu Haifeng you write that he is "Communist Party secretary of Tsinghua Holdings". Can you explain what this means? Do state-run companies have party representatives on the board of directors? What is his official title in Chinese? Mporter (talk) 02:55, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

I just took that info from the source. I am not sure this is some official title. I would think every company is different. Benjwong (talk) 18:14, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

Consensus change on ROC/TW

I wanted to let you know that apparently there has been a change in the Wikipedia consensus on the use of "Republic of China (Taiwan)". If you recall (or not) from the discussion 2 years ago, the combination use can be applied for "origin". I'm not sure when it happened, but "origin" is now over on the "Taiwan" column, where "birthplace" was and is. There's also someone on the WPCLE talk page asking us to look at locale conventions again. Arsonal (talk) 23:04, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Jianpi Wan

Hi Benjwong, As you are an active Wikipedia contributor, i would appreciate your views on the proposed deletion of Jianpi Wan at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Jianpi_Wan. Jianpi Wan is an ancient Chinese herbal formula to strengthen the spleen. It has long existed as an entry under Chinese classic herbal formula. (talk) 00:39, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Category fixes

I'm not sure that all the foods indicated should have the Chinese cuisine category removed as you have done. While having the category there is redundant when you already have some sub-category of Chinese cuisine (say Cantonese cuisine) many of these dishes exist in other Chinese regional cuisine. As such, these edits actually makes the articles much less accurate and factual. Perhaps some of them should be change back? Sjschen (talk) 04:19, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

The only part I think I should have done is maybe ask WP:FOOD first. Putting everything in one category is what we did when there were only a few articles. See how Category:Chinese people has the tag to "move to subcategory". Maybe I can put one up here. We have been cutting items into smaller sub categories until people start randomly putting it back into Chinese cuisine. The real case is that no one item appears in all sub chinese cuisines. Not even congee. Benjwong (talk) 02:14, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

SCMP

Hi Ben, I was told you could e-mail some articles from the South China Morning Post. Do you mind sending me this one? Thanks! Colipon+(Talk) 00:45, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

Sorry I would use the content for an article. But I cannot distribute the article up like that. I have never emailed anyone any article. Not sure where that rumor started. Benjwong (talk) 02:06, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

There is not much to that article other than being very optimistic about the future. The center of the crackdown is here. And I don't think Beijing is really cracking down on crime to fix the city or public image. Usually when there is a crackdown, someone in the government didn't get their share. And they just get pissed and overthrow everything. Benjwong (talk) 02:11, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

Oh gee I can't help myself. If there is real desire for corruption crackdowns, they would have taken HK's advice 10 years ago to establish a real ICAC. Benjwong (talk) 02:14, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
Oh thanks anyway. Not a problem. Will try to find other sources. Just that SCMP seems to be the most impartial on China-related issues. Colipon+(Talk) 08:19, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:PrincessKnightManga.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:PrincessKnightManga.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:42, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:FourFlowers.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. DYK nom for 2009 Barack Obama visit to China

Hello! Your submission of 2009 Barack Obama visit to China at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 04:17, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

Ah, my bad. This was intended for another user, as I thought the article's creator was also the nominator. Sorry for the mixup. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 04:26, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is 2009 Barack Obama visit to China. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2009 Barack Obama visit to China. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:10, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Benjwong! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 941 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. File source problem with File:ChouTofu.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:ChouTofu.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 09:06, 5 February 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. IngerAlHaosului (talk) 09:06, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on File:CreamBun Stu Spivack.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Yan'an rectification

I just looked at that article and felt that it could do with much work. I know about the subject, and have source material here, but I may need more guidance about how to really improve things in terms of correct Wikipedia style. At a minimum, there are almost no sources in that article. That quite undermines the credibility of the report to outsiders. If you have some advice for how I can start there, please notify me. Mark Selden's study of Yan'an is the seminal text; I have others, too. --Homunculus (strange tales) 01:23, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

I think that article is "ok". But you can expand it. Benjwong (talk) 14:06, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
Yes, it does not have many good sources. I am going to add a lot of independent scholarship to the page soon. Many sources do not use the "three phases" way of conceptualising it. In a few days you could look. Homunculus (strange tales) 05:09, 15 March 2010 (UTC)

Arilang talk 06:48, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
