Commercial use of Image:BARRASSO3.jpg[edit]

Some advice[edit]

Benfeing, you seem to be fundamentally misunderstanding the laws of copyright. Something is not in the public domain simply if it has been published, regardless if it is biographical. For example I could not copy out Bill Clinton's published biography word for word and publish it myself. It is the creative input that is copyrighted, not the subject matter. If you copy out the text verbatim from a website, as you did with John Gore, you are breaching copyright - this is clear from both WP:Copyrights and WP:Copyright violations. The easiest way to get around the issue is to rewrite the text from the website in your own words. It is not a difficult subject matter, nor is it written in a way that is complex and therefore you should be able to rewrite, paraphrasing the source website. You should then attribute the information you have put in with accurate inline citations. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not an advertising or promotional medium. Your post to User Talk:Rudget seems to suggest you are attempting to advertise or promote aspects of John Gore's career - in what way does the website www.johngore.com NOT do this? If that was the motivation for the article, why do you feel it is necessary to reproduce exactly the same material that is on the website verbatim in Wikipedia? If you are in fact interested in writing an encyclopedic article on a notable person then please do so, but do not copy out already published non-free text word for word. All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging.
