I've removed the tag (twice) because I actually unprotected the page on 3 March. Just adding the tag doesn't apply semi-protection; it takes an admin to do that and the tag is just an indication of the status. Given that everyone has been able to edit since the 3rd, and that many of the anon and new editors' edits have been retained and thus were useful, I don't think reprotecting the page now is necessary. Fairly few of the edits are problematic and many of them are good. Semiprotection is only used when standard tools like reverts and blocks are not able to stop the problem: on this article, it hasn't been that bad recently. -Splashtalk 23:00, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edit to Casey MacDonald (Life With Derek) was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to recognize and repair vandalism to Wikipedia articles. If the bot reverted a legitimate edit, please accept our apologies – if you bring it to the attention of the bot's owner, we may be able to improve its behavior. // Tawkerbot2 03:38, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was looking through the history of Casey MacDonald (Life With Derek), and I saw that only one paragraph was a copyvio. How about we just remove the paragraph and take the copyvio off? --GeorgeMoneyTalk  Contribs 02:56, 29 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I see. --GeorgeMoneyTalk  Contribs 03:07, 29 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

United States Mens National Team[edit]

I absolutely disagree. Of course I know some of the names, but a few are downright obscure. Who are these people famous with? The US soccer community alone (and by that I mean their collegageues and managers). If a US supporter like myslef can't recognise some of them, I assure you they are not famous to the world or the average American. I ask that you consider possibly trimming the list down a bit to only those who have gained distinction, rather than any World Cup participant with a few caps. The nation's growing soccer heritage is worthy of more. Plasticbadge 00:24, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kellie Pickler[edit]

It might not have been your intent, but you recently removed content from Kellie Pickler. Please be careful not to remove content from Wikipedia without a valid reason, which you should specify in the edit summary or on the article's talk page. Thank you. A link to the edit I have reverted can be found here: link. If you believe this edit should not have been reverted, please contact me. Zpb52 17:16, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that. I didn't see the rumor sentence. What I saw was that you cut off a factual statement mid-sentence, and I assumed it was inadvertent. --Zpb52 17:25, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

68.126.249.237 report on WP:RFI[edit]

Hi Batman2005. Please note that I've archived or removed your recent request for investigation. That page is only for very specific cases, as described by the page's guidelines. Your alert would be better placed on Administrator intervention against vandalism (WP:AIV), where it will usually be processed within minutes. Many alerts that are incorrectly placed on Requests for investigation are never dealt with, simply because they become old before an administrator gets to them. Thanks for your efforts. :) Petros471 12:23, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I must have been reading the reference desk too much :p. In all seriousness though, while it might not be to the letter of WP:TPG, I don't see the harm in a one line question and one line answer related to the topic, provided it doesn't then develop into a lengthier discussion. Oldelpaso 20:50, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, I in turn apologise for doubting your intent. Oldelpaso 21:00, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Wchsfront.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Wchsfront.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 02:44, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Roger Ambrose page discussion[edit]

Batman,

Thank you for your points and advise. I am a little burnt out on all the discussion over this article. All I want to do is make this right. I just happened to come upon all this because it was my day off and I was checking in. I'd like an article on wikipedia, but don't see the value in it if everyone is just into fighting over it. I will survive the loss, but still think it is a little un-fair to see all of the porno starlettes getting a pass for their "up standing" and "notable" work and someone as myself (with 25 years and 2 emmy awards) scoring a big "zero" in the eyes of the general community. I had been warn about all this, but it was only after today that I really have begun to believe these warnings.

Again my sincere thanks,

Roger C. Ambrose: Production Designer (of questionable note)Roger ambrose 05:50, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I was wondering if Cuthbert11, the entertainment lawyer (beginning on Wikipedia May 29) is also Mscuthbert (Michael Scott Cuthbert) the expert on musicology with regards to Bob Fink article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Fink
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Mscuthbert
Myke Cuthbert (Michael Scott Cuthbert) wrote:
"I am Visiting Assistant Professor of Music (Musicology) currently at Smith College and Mount Holyoke College (2005-06; joint appointment) and will join the music faculty at M.I.T. next year…I am not of sufficient importance to appear in any Wikipedia articles."

Just an interesting piece of information. Roger ambrose 21:12, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, no connection to Cuthbert11; one account is enough for me. Otherwise I might spend even more time Wiki editing. (Cuthbert's a more common name than one might expect). --Myke Cuthbert 06:07, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting development on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Roger Ambrose. Ambrose is continuing to add POV material to his article through an IP, even after he seemed to agree to let a "third party" [his quotations] edit it. --JChap 00:04, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Inappropriate Remarks[edit]

Regarding your user page:

An important message

Please be extremely careful when adding material to articles or talk pages that it does not involve defamation. Comments that defame an individual may leave you open to being sued by them. Your status here, whether as a signed-on user or as an anonymous IP, would not protect you. Someone you defame could get a court order instructing your service provider to supply your details to them. They could then sue you for damages. While Section 230 of the United States Communications Decency Act may protect Wikipedia from being sued for defamation, it may not protect the person who posted a defamatory claim on a Wikipedia page.

Furthermore, the Wikimedia Foundation's Board of Trustees has ruled that: Where the user has been vandalising articles or persistently behaving in a disruptive way, [personal information] data may be released to assist in the targeting of IP blocks, or to assist in the formulation of a complaint to relevant Internet Service Providers. (Wikimedia privacy policy in full)

This notice has been left for you because another Wikipedia user suspects that, perhaps innocently, you may have defamed someone in your contributions. Please recheck your edits. Do not make allegations against someone unless you have provided evidence from a reliable publication, and then make sure you describe the allegations in accordance with our content policies, particularly Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:No original research. Don't rely on hearsay, rumours, or things you believe without evidence to be facts, and don't use sources to create a novel narrative. Wikipedia requires reliable sources for all claims.

If you repeatedly defamed someone, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. If you find that you have inadvertently defamed someone in an article, do two things:

  1. Remove the defamation from the article immediately.
  2. Leave a note on the administrator's noticeboard saying that you have accidentally included defamatory claims in a named article or articles. (Don't repeat the claims. They will be able to see from your edit removing them what they were.) The claim will then be deleted from the page history.

Once that is done, and the defamation is gone completely from our records, the problem should be resolved.

and this edit: Please do not make personal attacks on other people. Wikipedia has a policy against personal attacks. In some cases, users who engage in personal attacks may be blocked from editing by admins or banned by the arbitration committee. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. Please resolve disputes appropriately. Thank you. I have removed the offending comments from your user page. Paul Cyr 23:28, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FYI: it's just a template. Paul Cyr 03:00, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As for your Magic Johnson link, please do not make rude remarks as it is offensive and brings down the quality of Wikipedia. Paul Cyr 03:17, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Whatever dude, Wikipedia is not censored. Defamation suit? brings down the quality of wikipedia? As if thousands of pages about porn, sexual positions and the like don't bring it down already? Absolute stupidity. If my userpage brings down the "quality of wikipedia" then so be it. Batman2005 15:18, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use images[edit]

I have removed the fair use images (pictures of hot girls and coat of arms) from your userpage. Fair use images cannot be placed on the userspace as it goes against Wikipedia's Fair Use policy. To know if an image's copyright status, read the tag placed on he image. Fair Use says that we can't place images with the tag on anything but the subjects article.. just if your wondering. Contact me if you have any questions. The King of Kings 06:08, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I think the admins just haven't gotten to it yet :p The backlog on that page is piling up and were near the more recent cases, so I think its going to be handled last. But I don't think it will amount to anything anyways. I wouldn't worry about it. ;-) The King of Kings 18:36, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Warning[edit]

It seems to me that you are acting in an uncivil manner on Talk:United States men's national soccer team. Please remain civil and don't resort to making personal attacks or instigate edit wars.

This is your last warning. If you continue to make personal attacks, you may be blocked for disruption.

This is the latest offending paragraph.

Well, in my opinion he's arguing his points like a child and should say so for the common good. His unwillingness to compromise further shows it.

"Arguing his points like a child" is not a civil way to refer to another contributor. Please stop and be civil.

Sebastian Kessel Talk 21:01, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: your message in my talk page. You'll find the two previous warnings here.
I didn't warn Jooler since he subdued his tone, as I also mentioned in the above link.
Good wiking, Sebastian Kessel Talk 23:16, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Batman, I am under no obligation to exert blocks. Administrators use their own discretion, I did. I'd appreciate if you refrain from posting further messages in my personal talk page regarding this matter, since you are not going to change my mind and I am indeed getting a little peeved about this whole thing. Furthermore, since you were never blocked, I don't really see the point of your messages. Thanks, and good wiking. Sebastian Kessel Talk 14:55, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
PS: You're correct about the caps, I should've underlined the paragraph since my intention was to underscore a sentence, not shout. I apologize.

NOTE The above was in relation to me being warned by an Admin for something I said about another user, then when that other user said the exact same about me, this Admin decided that it wasn't appropriate to take the same action.Batman2005 16:19, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sour grapes[edit]

Actually I did not know the meaning of Sour grapes, so thanks for the lesson. Exactly, however, which is the deisire I deny to have for something I fail to acquire?--Panairjdde 00:29, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The term is also used to refer to one expressing, in an unsportsmanlike or ungracious way, anger or frustration at having failed to acquire something (i.e. being a "sore loser"), regardless of whether the party denies their desire for the item. Batman2005 00:31, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Again. What did I failed to acquire? (you are used to avoid answering people.)--Panairjdde 01:07, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No, i'm just not used to having to explain simple theories to people. You failed to acquire the end result to the argument you started. You then showed anger and frustration...thus, you were displaying "sour grapes." Batman2005 01:13, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

World cup pictures[edit]

You're probably right to remove the other one as well. If it was obviously at the world cup, in front of the football sculpture thing for example, then it might be different. US Nat Team Flags[edit]

Howdy. Just to point out - the Canadian national team includes provincial flags on their roster. I thought it would be a decent addition to add state flags for the US Nat Team to show a little bit about the national spread of members of the team. This is generally in league with pages like that of the US National Hockey team, which also includes state flags. I won't revert it right away, just like to get your outlook on that first. - RPIRED 17:36, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
