Shoutouts[edit]

Hi Alex: I became your reviewer. I hope that is okay. Kristen46 19:16, 25 September 2011 (UTC)Kristen46Kristen46 19:16, 25 September 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kristen46 (talkcontribs)

Hi Alix! Are you having a good day? Prof. M-S Marchantshapiro (talk) 18:27, 12 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! How are you? :)Laura.Muro2 (talk) 23:52, 18 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Alix:

I was wondering if you can give a visual regarding the use of gun-violence. I think a graph would be helpful to some people. Maybe comparing how many crimes that use guns in comparison to other crimes? Or maybe how many overall gun incidents there are in the country? Another suggestion would be to define gun violence. Does it include rifles? If so, maybe you can put some NRA information/stats in. Just suggestions for the everyday reader. Your page looks great. Keep up the good work. Hi Alix- I found your choice in organization quite interesting and specifically the Violence Policy Center an interesting organization. I was unaware of this not-for-profit. Moreover, recent of late news of Congress voting to expand/nationalize the carrying of concealed handguns after a permit holder fired at a group of California Highway Patrol Officers was probably a huge step in the right direction for the organization. This news is right in line with the organization’s mission statement of advocacy for a safer America. Stshymansky (talk) 17:53, 7 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Survey[edit]

Hi Aslscsu1990!

I have put together a survey for female editors of Wikipedia (and related projects) in order to explore, in greater detail, women's experiences and roles within the Wikimedia movement. It'd be wonderful if you could participate!

It's an independent survey, done by me, as a fellow volunteer Wikimedian. It is not being done on behalf of the Wikimedia Foundation. I hope you'll participate!

Just click this link to participate in this survey, via Google!

Any questions or concerns, feel free to email me or stop by my user talk page. Also, feel free to share this any other female Wikimedians you may know. It is in English, but any language Wikimedia participants are encouraged to participate. I appreciate your contributions - to the survey and to Wikipedia! Thank you! Just checking in[edit]

Hi! My name is Cindy and I am working with Ed this semester to support the Political Participation course, taught by Professor Tess Marchant-Shapiro. I can be reached either through my talk page, email, or on IRC at #wikipedia-en-classroom. Please feel free to contact either myself or Ed any time you have a question. We are both here to help and look forward to working with you! Best regards, Cind.amuse (Cindy) 07:24, 7 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Violence Policy Center[edit]

I noticed your edits at Violence Policy Center which look like a good start to rewriting the article. Some minor issues: Please do not put multiple blank lines between paragraphs or sections—just a single blank line is used. For references, people are using the template {{Reflist}} rather than <references/> these days. The template {{WAP assignment}} is supposed to be added near the top of the article talk (discussion) page, so it should be removed from the article and added to Talk:Violence Policy Center (but, it is already present on the talk page, so does not need to be added there). Concerns with the Violence Policy Center article[edit]

Hey there, I just want to touch bases with you. I've noticed some critical concerns with the above referenced article (added by others prior to your participation). The issues include bias tone, lack of neutrality, and lack of independent sourcing to establish notability. I went ahead and removed criticisms of the organization based on unreliable sourcing and opinions attributed to one individual. Hopefully, you are able to continue working on the article to address the concerns. Articles about organizations are established as notable through the presence of significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Overall, the article relies on the VPC website to support content, contrary to community guidelines. The goal is to use independent sources as citations, adding the VPC website as an external link. (As a side note, please don't use "Catalog of the Connecticut State University Libraries and the State Library" as a citation in any capacity. A library [or catalog] a repository, rather than a source.) Please contact me if you have questions. Best regards, Cind.amuse (Cindy) 05:12, 16 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
