A tag has been placed on Ben Jackson (electronic sports player), requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Image tagging for Image:Boost.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Boost.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

License tagging for Image:MLG usa250-250.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MLG usa250-250.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Final Boss[edit]

The article Final Boss has been or soon will be deleted from Wikipedia. This happened because the article seems to be about a subject but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. You might also want to read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles. Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles that you have created yourself. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please do the following:

  1. Place {{hangon}} on the page. Please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag(s).
  2. Make your case on the article's talk page.

Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. IrishGuy talk 11:12, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

USA Network[edit]

Wikipedia 101[edit]

  • Hi, I'm glad you joined Wikipedia, however I think you need to learn the basics of how to edit. I have been to a bunch of MLGs myself if you need help PM me on Wikipedia.

First: Be sure you write from a Neutral Point of View (WP:NPOV). Don't promote anything. You almost got the MLG article deleted. I had to fix everything.

Second: Be sure all your article are cited by multiple independent sources. (WP:Notability)

For example:

Orge are all them are apart of Final Boss which is a notable team itself therefore they should just be included in the Final Boss article, but unlike Ben Jackson and Tsquared I am not sure the members of Final Boss have achieve anything notable enough to deem their own articles. I think they should be combined.

Third: How to cite sources, add

<ref>[www.whateverwebpage.com The name of the source is]</ref> Then above the External links add ==References== <references/>

Fourth: Sign your posts by adding ~~~~ add the end of any post you make on a talk page (discussion page included).

Thats basically it!

On a side note: Please don't just removed categories from people. You can put people in more categories but dont just remove them. With that can you please add back [[Category:American electronic sports player]] to anyone you removed that from. Thanks. Valoem talk 02:22, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • No problem!, one more thing you are going to need is adding photo licensing to all photos you upload otherwise they will be deleted. Assuming you work for MLG, and only if you work for them, you can added {{promophoto}} in the licensing section, then add the source of the license and add fair use rational (why this image is needed).

If you don't ask them on the forum, im sure they will allow it. Who are you on MLG forums btw?

To get to the licensing section click on the image, then next to License click edit and added the tag. If there is no licensing section just click on edit at the top of the page and add:

==License== {{promophoto}} or what ever license applies. Here is a list of all possible tags, WP:ICT.

Oh yea don't forget to sign your posts by adding ~~~~ after you are done talking on a talk page. Valoem talk 04:23, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

One more thing ...[edit]

Please don't move other articles into that: Category:Electronic sports competitors.

Why did you even create this category? Not only is Category:American electronic sports players and Category:Electronic sports teams better because it has been around longer hence more people are aware of it, but also it is much more informative. It determines what country the player is from, and whether or not it is a team. Your category Electronic sports competitors is probably going to be deleted so please don't move anything else into, you would be hurting your cause.

Secondly, when creating an article don't use Ben "Karma" Jackson etc., you are suppose to just use his proper name. This is the precedence as far as I am concerned so don't change it back. Also I "moved" your article not just clear edited it and covered it up with a redirect. Valoem talk 05:36, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

E-gamers - what category is being used?[edit]

I'm not trying to PO people here, and this is a serious question from a non-sports person (the only sports I do are downhill skiing and figure skating (and a bit of college hockey years ago))... What criteria is being used for these people? My reading of the WP:BIO is along these lines...

From Wikipedia:Notability (people) Where do e-gamers fall into the standard categories? They are not:

Political figures
local political figures
entertainment or opinion makers
actors or TV Personalities
Published authors, editors and photographers
Painters, sculptors, architects, engineers, and other professionals
Persons achieving renown or notoriety for their involvement in newsworthy events, such as by being assassinated

Can they be considered under the following:?

Sportspeople/athletes/competitors who have played in a fully professional league, or a competition of equivalent standing in a non-league sport such as swimming, or at the highest level in mainly amateur sports or other competitive activities that are themselves considered notable, including college sports in the United States.

They aren't sportspeople or athletes - but they may be competitors; is this the category where their notability is being justified? I didn't think that this was the intent of this category; I read this as those that are actually physically competing. If e-athletes are to be judged under this criteria, I would urge a notation being made as such to prevent further confusion on the issue.

As I couldn't put them in any of the above categories, I fell back to the basic:

"The person made a widely recognized contribution that is part of the enduring historical record in their specific field. - All of these criteria are in fact simply special cases of the general primary criterion of multiple non-trivial published works from independent sources. A person who is "part of the enduring historical record" will have been written about, in depth, independently in multiple history books on that field, by historians.

There may be articles written about these people, to whom I have no animosity, but can it be said that they are making a widely recognized contribution that is part of the enduring historical record in their specific field?

I do agree that several of the persons on the AFD list do have independent notability, and have noted so on their pages. However when looking at the field, I still say that these don't qualify as I don't see how they are part of the enduring historical record... (article - began playing):

Chris Smith (electronic sports player) - May 2005
Scott Lussier - July 2005
Eric Hewitt - April 2006
Ben Jackson (electronic sports player) - May 2005
Dave Walsh - March 2004
Brandon Jenkins - April 2006
Carlos Morales (electronic sports player) - April 2006
Michael Cavanaugh - April 2006
Victor de Leon III - "Victor has won no tournaments and has no notable placements in professional events."
Ryan Danford - May 2004
Zyos -"Leto quit gaming professionally after his former team, Xit Woundz, failed to place top 4 during the second event of the 2006 season."
TuLegit - ?

Again, I'm not trying to PO people here, would just like to see a clarification made for future disucssion on where exactly these people fit into the WP:BIO scheme!

Thanks for your patience with a non-gamer. :) SkierRMH 05:58, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

MLG[edit]

Hi, you edited Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Team Carbon after it was already closed, which you're not supposed to. Nonetheless, I will answer here. The subjects are nna per the reasons I already gave in the addition before.

Looking for input[edit]

Hey there. Not too long ago, you were involved in the AfDs centering around Major League Gaming. I would appreciate some input as I believe there needs to be some sort of consensus on whether or not the notability of these players meets requirements for Wikipedia. Thanks. :: Colin Keigher (Talk) 04:52, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

MLG Edits[edit]

Hi, you have done a lot of edits that are all tied to MLG-related articles. Edits are of course appreciated, but as a probable MLG employee, fan or affiliate please be cautious of producing advertisements, POV-articles and/or fancruft. Wikipedia is not the place for this. MLG comprises only a minor part of e-Sports world-wide, so putting a lot of emphasis on MLG in e-Sports articles is obviously the wrong way to go and will only result in repetitive deletion. Instead, please consider contributing to broader aspects of e-Sports. There are numerous teams and players listed on 2006 e-Sports World Champions that would require an article in order to present a balanced world view in the e-Sports category. Any help in creating and editing these is appreciated. Thanks -- DJiTH 18:17, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Community fellowship sda church[edit]

The article Community fellowship sda church has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki 14:56, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Individual churches generally do not meet Wikipedia's standards of notability. Please don't repost this article unless you can show, by reliable sources, that this church is notable in some way. Thanks, NawlinWiki 14:59, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Ghostayame.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ghostayame.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Fair use rationale for Image:Sabra.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Sabra.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Fair use rationale for Image:Anarchy Avatar.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Anarchy Avatar.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Image copyright problem[edit]

Thanks for your uploads. You've indicated that the following images are being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why they meet Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page an image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

File permission problem with File:TeamCarbon.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:TeamCarbon.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.
