Hi, I interesting a long time in the military history of WW II and also in military decorations and ribbons, so i can easily recognize a large number of it. So I made a Sections about Decorations (Ribbon bars) in some articles, mainly from the photos. In the case of General Walter Krueger, i made it from the photos from E-Bay, website veteranstribute.org and website militarytimes.com, where you can see some citations. I can post the links.

In the case of Major general Hugh John Casey, I made it also from the photos, and of course, there are a lot of medals, which he´ll had to received, if he served in some Campaigns or Wars. For example, World War I Victory Medal. Casey served during the Great War, so he was eligible for this medal (also you can see that ribbon at the main photo, extreme right of his ribbon bar). You can compare it with the article about that medal.

The same case, American Defense Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal etc. etc. etc.

For example, look at the article about Vice admiral Daniel E. Barbey, which you edited. I made ribbon bar there too. But if you look on the main photo, you will see, that the ribbon bar is the same as on the photo. I am not an troll, who is destroying wikipedia, I work a long time on cs.wikipedia.org you can check it.

• I did not think that you were a troll or a vandal. I can tell when someone knows what they are talking about. The problem is that on the English wikipedia the threshold for inclusion is verifiability, not truth. We need to have sources to back up, like a book that lists his awards. Mhmmm I understand Hawkeye, how I should do that? There is a little bit problem, because some of the awards, as I said higher, the certain officer received, if he served during some campaign, wars, service years....etc. US Army have strict army regulations of eligibility for receiving of some medal. And If I can prove, that certain officer served in the army during some year or in the article is written (for example General Blabla served with distinction during Great War and was awarded with Distinguished service cross for gallantry.

So If he survived the year of 1919 and was in active service in 1935, I can tell for sure, that he is holder of Distinguished Service Cross and World War I Victory Medal and ribbons of it. So thats something like if I said: "The Grass is green". You know what I mean? It something what is not needed to be proven, because it is of course. How I should do it then? I´d like to help to english wikipedia (and I try to make a new articles, correcting wrong links etc), but this kind of unnecessary byrocracy, just bored me and I losing motivation to write another new articles. I have reverted your edits on this article for the following important reasons:

• The man "in centre with glasses" -- as described in your addition to the caption -- is actually Japanese Paymaster Lieutenant P. Hisao Napasato, as can easily be ascertained from the Summary of File:Wake Island Surrender.jpg, not Lawson H. M. Sanderson. This is a serious error which on its own would have justified reverting your edits.

• The subject of the article is Shigematsu Sakaibara. The identity of the notable U.S. commander to whom he surrendered, is irrelevant in the caption of the image used in the infobox.

If you take a look on the article now, you can notify the description says: Admiral Shigematsu Sakaibara (seated third from left) signing the surrender of Wake Island aboard USS Levy on September 4, 1945. But actually admiral Sakaibara is not THIRD from the left, but SECOND. So I can agree with your opinion that mention of Brigadier General Lawson H.M. Sanderson is irrelevant in caption of the image used in the infobox. Especially when there are two men with glasses in the centre. But now, the caption is incorrect. I will revert you edit in the caption about place of admiral Sakaibara at the table.

"Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. April 2018 Milhist Backlog Drive

G'day all, please be advised that throughout April 2018 the Military history Wikiproject is running its annual backlog elimination drive. This will focus on several key areas:

• tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
• adding or improving listed resources on Milhist's task force pages
• updating the open tasks template on Milhist's task force pages
• creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the scope of military history will be considered eligible. This year, the Military history project would like to extend a specific welcome to members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red, and we would like to encourage all participants to consider working on helping to improve our coverage of women in the military. This is not the sole focus of the edit-a-thon, though, and there are aspects that hopefully will appeal to pretty much everyone.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 April and runs until 23:59 UTC on 30 April 2018. Those interested in participating can sign up here.

Unfortunatelly the biographical information were not detailed at all and I had to "dig deeper" to find something more detailed. I checked the documents named "Register of the commissioned and warrant officers of the United States Navy and Marine Corps and reserve officers on active duty" from 1917 to 1945 (total 17 files) and in each of these editions there were partly information like: Date of first commissioning, present rank and date of the rank, present duty station, date of last sea or expeditionary service, total lenght in years and months of service (including sea service, expeditionary service).

It was like a puzzle, I knew his medal ribbons on his service uniform, which confirmed me the expeditionary duty in Nicaragua or China and if you put all these information together, I had a total overview of his career. Did you find something in the article about your grandfather, which is not correct? Do you have some additional information? Let me know please AntonyZ (talk) 12:51, 1 January 2020 (UTC)
