Thank you and good to be here. How can I post pictures? This is frustrating me.

One common way would be, for instance:

[[Image:Mars Valles Marineris.jpeg|right|thumb|240px|The planet Mars]]

The planet Mars

The 240px means the picture is reduced to a horizontal size of 240 pixels but the users can still see it full-size by clicking on it.

In your case, you could just substitute the pictures you've uploaded (see "my contributions"):

  • Image:Thirst.jpg
  • Image:Afropick3.jpg
  • Image:777236-R4-1A-protestblackpower.jpg

In these cases, you'd omit "240px" or any other "px" size, because the pictures are already small enough to fit comfortably on a page.

None of the pictures used on the page seem to have copyright tags. Where did you get them? Do you know if they fall under "fair use" or not? Unless we can verify them, they're going to delete them automatically in seven days. Maybe it would be better to find willing subjects to take pictures of (or use magazine covers/screencaptures). Let me know. --FuriousFreddy 17:18, 23 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

How do I get a copyright tag? I got that from the internet, should I link them for you?

If you got them from the internet, chances are we can't legally use them. Take a look at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags to see the types of images we can use, and what we can use them for. And always remember to sign your posts (just type two dashes and four tildes like this: --~~~~) --FuriousFreddy 17:00, 24 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I absolutely dread not using them on my page. There is simply nothing I can do?--Anonymous X 17:22, 24 October 2005 (UTC) Anonymous X[reply]

You simply can't use pictures you swipe from websites on wikipedia pages. These pictures will be deleted as copyright violations. Please don't uplaod any more. The easyiest way to get pictures that are not copyvios is to take them yourself. If you have no access to a camera you request pictures from Wikipedia: requested pictures Theresa Knott (a tenth stroke) 01:35, 29 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicating articles[edit]

Hello, Anonymous X. In the future, please don't duplicate articles. Black/African Hair Texture was the same as Afro textured hair, so I redirected it. If you need to move a page, click on the "move" link at the top of the article. If you don't have the capability to move it yet, you can get someone to help you. If you want likely search terms to come up with the same article, use redirects. To make a redirect, put #Redirect [[Name of the page you want to redirect to]] at the top of the page you are redirecting from. Thanks -- Kjkolb 20:41, 27 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Wole.gif has been listed for deletion[edit]

An image or media file that you uploaded, Image:Wole.gif, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

Why are my pics continuosly deleted? I'm mentioning the sources. --Anonymous X 01:39, 29 October 2005 (UTC)Anonymous X[reply]

All you are doing is saying you got it from a website. A proper source would be "photo taken by blah blah blah who gave up the copyright" the website would need a notice stating that the owners of the photos release the image into the public domain (or some compatable licence)
You cannot swipe photos from other websites I'm afraid. Theresa Knott (a tenth stroke) 01:46, 29 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image:WoolyHair.jpg has been listed as a possibly unfree image[edit]

An image that you uploaded or altered, Image:WoolyHair.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images. If the image's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. If you have any information on the source or licensing of this image, please go to its page to provide the necessary information. Thank you.

Please stop[edit]

It's clear that you do not understand our image use policy. Please do not add any more images to wikipedia. All the images that you have uploaded so far are likely to be deleted in the next few days. You are wasting your time and ours.

I believe that you are lying about having taken the pictures yourself, and are lying about owning the various websites that you took them from. I don't like biting newbies, and believe that you have to potential to be a very good wikipedia editor, but you have to understand that we cannot and will not tolerate copyright violations. Theresa Knott (a tenth stroke) 09:54, 30 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I will continue to delete images as soon as you upload them. If you persist I will be forced to stop you from editing altogher. I don't want to do this but you are leaving me with little option. Please do not upload any more images. You do not understand our image policy or our copyright policy, and you appear to be incapable of learning it. Theresa and moderators. Is it ok if I LINK pictures w/out showing them themselves? I think we can settle on this, right? --Anonymous X 00:04, 31 October 2005 (UTC)Anonymous X[reply]

Yes that's fine. It's better to put the links in a section of thier own at the bottom of the page rather than in the middle of the article. I'm glad we've got this cleared up. Theresa Knott (a tenth stroke) 00:09, 31 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Yea, but I'd kind of like it to be like a slide show. I'm glad we got this cleared up too, I hope I can find most of the pics.
