Help me![edit]

Please help me with... When is it ok to remove a template message citing lack of inline citations? (I'm new to this.) I have added several inline citations, and the template message is old (2009). The article (Rockcliffe Park Ontario) seems ok to me now. References at the end don't count as inline citations, right?

I see the 'Geographical Location' diagram showing adjacent places has become optional - that's fine, but the new title is horribly ungrammatical. "Adjacent places of"??? It needs to be changed to "Places adjacent to". How do I go about lobbying for that to happen?

Thanks for your help. Anna Litickle (talk) 20:55, 15 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Anna Litickle, welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for your edits to the Rockcliffe Park article; you're definitely improving the page. In this case though, I'd say leave the template message for now. There are still good portions of the article that lack inline citations entirely, for example the "Geography" and "Notable residents" sections. So although the article is much better, I would not say that the lack of inline citations is entirely resolved.
As for the grammar on the template...the place to do that would be to start a new section at Template talk:Geographic location, stating why you think the grammar should be changed. However, in this particular case I'd suggest waiting a bit, as the suitability of the template for Wikipedia is currently being discussed at Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2017 August 6. If the consensus of the discussion is that the template should be kept, then I would suggest starting a talk section about the grammar. Howicus (Did I mess up?) 21:24, 15 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks very much for your help, Howicus. I'm working on providing more references. Anna Litickle (talk) 20:22, 30 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I reversed a recent post to this page because it gave the impression that there is significant opposition to the Heritage Plan, whereas it's actually from just one property-owner, who is also a developer. Also removed a reference (#12) that was a repeat of an earlier reference (#10). Anna Litickle (talk) 00:05, 6 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Help me!

Re the Rockcliffe Park article. Under “Heritage” there’s an explanation of the purpose of the Heritage designation and the recently adopted heritage plan. Someone, “Joan S”, is making repeated edits opposing the plan - most recently “heritage designation does not respect the rights of property owners and spooks potential buyers, driving down market values”. Her comments also imply much broader opposition to the plan than is actually the case; it’s primarily a single developer, who is currently appealing after buying a protected property and being refused permission to rebuild it. There’s reason to believe that "Joan S" is an agent for this developer. The developer has a history of putting considerable time and money into lobbying for support from city councillors, as detailed in a CBC article.[1]

The page should not be a forum for this matter. Advice please; it’s clearly pointless to keep making corrections that will be immediately reversed.

This is probably a discussion that should happen on the talk page of the article in question in order to garner more wide-spread opinions (only those tracking {{help me}} usage will see this note). If you wish to ping Joan S for their opinion, use {{u|Joan S}} in your discussion, making sure to sign your post with ~~~~. If there is no response or the discussion dead-ends because the two of you cannot agree, then a Third Opinion or dispute resolution can be sought. If you want more help, change the {{help me-helped}} back into a {{help me}}, stop by the Teahouse, Wikipedia's live help channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. Primefac (talk) 20:51, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
