Just a heads up that I moved the page back to its original namespace on the grounds of WP:IMOS and WP:COMMONNAME, specifically the fact that it is the name she herself commonly uses on her social media as I have provided at the articles talk page. As you are an administrator I would have expected a more thorough reasoning or bit of research to have done and provided before making such a page move based on the edits and edit summary of one editor who has issues about "colonial" names. Friendly request

I know it's hard to remember every jot and tittle of the rules and I understand that, but as an admin could you please take a leadership role by not making edits like this, thanks. As you know, you can't make statements like that without including an immediately proximate ref. Yes I know looking up and putting in refs is a hassle, but you could have avoided that by just saying "other guy" or something, which would have made your point just as well. I don't like the guy either, but... It's hard enough as it is trying to deal with this problem (which is kind of widespread), so, thanking you for your consideration. • Hi Bastun - I revdel'd those previous edits. They're not exactly the same, but were also unsourced WP:BLP vios, and definitely couldn't be allowed stand. For some reason, Mr. O'Gorman seems to be a target for some ire right now - Alison ^❤ 04:15, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

• Hi Clem - not to worry at all :) Great to hear from you. It was basically a request for information on the so-called "Dennis Detector", designed by Colonel Meade James Crosbie Dennis and used for detecting submarines underwater (allegedly, it was a rotary crystal radio detector), and I believe this was at the Maritime Museum at one point. I'm treasurer of the Saratoga Amateur Radio Association, and was working on an hour-long talk on the history of Irish radio. Let me know if you would like a copy and I'll mail on a pdf. Lots of obscure Irish radio history in there, including the Kingstown Regatta radio experiments - Alison ^❤ 04:18, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

Queering Wikipedia 2021 User Group Working Days: May 14–16

The Wikimedia LGBTQ+ User Group is holding online working days in May. As a member of WikiProject LGBT studies, editing on LGBTQ+ issues or if you identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community, come help us set goals, develop our organisation and structures, consider how to respond to issues faced by Queer editors, and plan for the next 12 months.

We will be meeting online for 3 half-days, 14–16 May at 1400–1730 UTC. While our working language is English, we are looking to accommodate users who would prefer to participate in other languages, including translation facilities.

On an unrelated but similar note, I've been working through a list of 1000+ orphaned talk subpages and I'm finding some really strange stuff that was stowed away on these pages. The articles were deleted but the deletion tools apparently don't delete talk subpages. It's amazing how much lengthy discussion went on and on about some articles that were later deleted years later at AfD. Kind of puts things in perspective about spending time writing walls-of-text that might be deleted by the next generation of admins. Liz ^{Read! Talk!} 21:55, 1 September 2021 (UTC)

A recently closed Request for Comment (RFC) reached consensus to remove Autopatrolled from the administrator user group. You may, similarly as with Edit Filter Manager, choose to self-assign this permission to yourself. Checkuser statistics

Dear Alison,

I'm sorry to bother you on the holidays, but I have a question to ask.

Is there any data publicly available about how many SPI investigations are opened annually, and how many result in confirmation? I've searched the web but could only find secondary sources that give uncited figures for certain years.

For example, a quote from Case Study of Sockpuppet Detection on Wikipedia":

"Sockpuppets are a prevalent problem in Wikipedia, there were close to 2,700 unique suspected cases reported in 2012. "

This is helpful, but I can't find any facts on the number of sockpuppets investigated/confirmed for 2014, 2018, or 2020, etc.

Are these statistics even formally collected and disseminated? If so I would greatly appreciate knowing where to find them. Thanks for your time.

By the way, I am aware of this SPI archive, but it dates back to the 2000s and seems inactive, and not very quantitative. To clarify, I'm looking for more recent figures, rather than a list of cases.
