The old topic was just moved into the archive since nobody was using it; you can still read it here. There are some special-case wikis that handle some of what you're talking about (such as Wookieepedia for Star Wars articles), but I think there is still a market for a more general "pop culture" wiki if you wanted to start one. Anyway, my response in the thread gives you some pointers.
