False licenses[edit]

- Thanks. I didn't know that. I've appended the correct license for the 19 Squadron Crest, and am currently attempting to hunt down the original copyright information for the Dolphin picture (see below), but am struggling. Thanks for uploading Image:Dolphinsopwith.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

Doubtful accuracies[edit]
In the process of summarising my past life for the benefit of my grandchildren (only), I came across at least one statement that doesn't correspond to my memory. To wit:
RAF Compton Bassett is said to be the site of No. 3 Radio School. I was called up in February 1947 and, after being inducted at RAF Padgate and being sent on 28 days leave because of the severe weather, was posted for initial traning (square bashing) to RAF Compton Bassett. As far as I know inital training was the only activity there at the time.
I was subsequently posted to Number 3 Radio School at RAF Yatesbury, where I received elementary training in electronics. After this I was posted to a radio school at RAF Cranwell where I was trained on airborne wireless equipment passing out as an AC 1 wireless mechanic.
The relevant pages are not consistent with these facts, and I don't have enough evidence available to know what should be done about it, let alone do it myself.
I'm prepared to accept that not every scrap of information is worth recording, but I'm sure you'll agree that what is recorded should be accurate.

MILHIST Military Aviation Questionaire[edit]
Hi Admiralross2400! As your MILHIST Military Avation Task Force coordinator, I'd like to conduct a short questionaire to give me an idea of what you would the task force to achieve and the capabilities of yours that might contribute positively to the task force. The four questions of this questionaire are:

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. Hi. This month The Women in Red World Contest is being held to try to produce new articles for as many countries worldwide and occupations as possible. There is over £3000 in prizes to win, including Amazon vouchers and paid subscriptions. Wikimedia UK is putting up £250 specifically for editors who produce the most quality new women bios for British women, with special consideration given to missing notable biographies from the Oxford Dictionary of Biography and Welsh Dictionary of Biography. If you're not interested in prize money yourself but are willing to participate independently this is also fine, but please add any articles created to the bottom of the main contest page even if not competing. "Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias. An initial discussion was has been done between the coordinators and members of WikiProject Military History on English Wikipedia. Now this discussion has been taken to Meta-Wiki. Service awards and barnstars are given for set points thresholds, and the top three finishers will receive further awards.
