Merhaba[edit]

Addition of featured articles[edit]

Hi, please do not add articles to the list of featured articles, as you did with Ottoman Empire and Turkish language. Only articles whose featured status has been discussed and approved beforehand, following a well-defined process, are listed on this page. If you want an article added to the list, here is what you should do:

  1. Make sure that the article satisfies the featured articles criteria, and if not, improve it until it does;
  2. List the article on Wikipedia:Featured article candidates, and try to improve it based on the reviewers' comments and criticism;
  3. If all comments have been taken into account and the article satisfies the criteria, it will added to the list (by someone else than you).

If you have any question about this process, please do not hesitate to ask me. All the best, Schutz 11:55, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I see that you have followed point 2 of the list above; unfortunately, you seem to have not checked if the article satisties the featured article criteria. Your nomination is likely to be rejected quickly, but you can always renominate once the article has been improved. Cheers, Schutz 13:51, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why are you removing the Armenian for Elazig? You're not providing any reason for getting rid of it, and it's useful information. --Awiseman 16:44, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article to be looked into[edit]

May I bring to your attention the Turkification article. There seems to be an edit war involving a couple of Greek users who seem all the too-eager to insert some highly POVish statements. It seems that there are unable to comprehend the scope of the article and Im unable to revert for fear of breaking the 3RR. Would you take a look over there? Thanks in advance:)--Kilhan 12:27, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Kusun Gozundeki Elazig.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Kusun Gozundeki Elazig.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 14:07, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

Islamic Barnstar Award[edit]

Please offer your opinion, vote, or whatever about your choice for the image to be used with the Islamic Barnstar Award at the Barnstar proposals page. Although there is consensus for the concept of an Islamic Barnstar Award, some editors would like to change the image for the award. I was just thinking you should be aware of this discussion because you have contributed to Islamic-related articles, received the Islamic Barnstar Award, or have contributed to the Islam-related Wikiprojects, etc.--JuanMuslim 1m 02:59, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Absar, I noticed that you gave your email address on you user page. Just in case you do not know this, you can go into 'my preferences' at the top of your page and follow the steps for emailing other users. It actually makes it easier. If you look at in the box on the left 'toolbos', it has a link 'E-mail this user' [1], other users usually click on that link, write their email and send it. Please clarify your comment[edit]

In Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Roman-Spartan War you said that the article Roman-Spartan War was too short. Please do verify this comment by pointing out according to which wikipedia guideline it has not sufficient length (stub, start) or whether there are essential parts where the content needs to be expanded and name them. Otherwise your comments are clueless and of questionable relevance for the review (can be ignored). Thank you Wandalstouring 14:48, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

PKK/Turkey[edit]

I tried Casualties of the Turkey-PKK conflict (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) for name of the article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casualties_of_the_Turkish-Kurdish_conflict. Now, OttomanRefence is trying.

Khoikhoi did not accept it. Khoi said that Uğur Kaymaz was a civilian Kurdish, he was killed, so it is not only PKK-Turkey conflict. But, current name Turkish-Kurdish conflict is wrong because that there is no ethnic conflict. There is a problem related to ethnic Kurdish problem but it is not directly an ethnic war. I asked the naming dispute to R.Cakır, and he said that "I think that "Turkish-Kurdish conflict" is not a good idea because it refers to some kind of civil war that does not exist yet. I would prefer 'Kurdish question (or problem, or maybe conflict) in Turkey' or Turkey's Kurdish question'. But, Khoi did not like the name because according to him not only Kurds are responsible for the conflict. He said that he would think about the name, but no suggestions came form him! I searched on the Internet, and found an article by Koç University academician Somer: "People seem to instinctively understand and fear that this time such a path may lead to a Turkish-Kurdish conflict, i.e. not only a conflict between the state and Kurdish separatists as the conflict previously was, but which involves ordinary people". from http://www.turkishpolicy.com/default.asp?show=fall_2006_somer That would be another nominee for the name: "Turkish state- Kurdish separatists conflict". Is "Turkish state - Kurdish separatists conflict" good?
If there is a voting, we should make a consensus. Any name other than current name is more suitable. But, at the last vote, people who are against the current name gave votes to different names so article's name did not change, since there were no consensus. We should refrain from this in a survey. burgaz 16:36, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Absar, I agree with the new name, but shouldn't we get a consensus first? the last survey ended with no consensus. DenizTC 13:25, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

TRNC-stub[edit]

Hi Absar

I notice that you've created a stub template representing the internationally unrecognized Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Similar templates have been the matter of much controversy in the past and consensus on WP:WSS was not to have such a template every time this issue was raised; 1) because almost all nations on the planet don't recognize this entity, so many editors will feel that it violates the NPOV principle, 2) because WP:WSS routinely rejects controversial stub templates, and the Cyprus situation is (unfortunately) still controversial to this day. Edit warring spreading to templates can affect hundreds of articles at the same time, something we very much try to avoid. This is also the reason why {{Cyprus-stub}} and {{Cyprus-geo-stub}} both feature maps rather than the Republic of Cyprus flag. The scope of these templates is the entire island of Cyprus, also in order to avoid having to chop up Cypriot history into two pieces that would be overlapping in many respects. I am opening a deletion debate concerning both template and category on WP:SFD per standard WP:WSS practice for controversial templates. You are of course welcome to comment there as well. Have a nice day and happy editing. Valentinian T / C 09:42, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ottoman culture[edit]

User:Hajji Piruz is claiming here [2]: "because the culture of the ruling dynasty, the House of Osman, was largely derived from the Persian culture, the Ottomans may also be regarded as Turkic Persianate". I believe apart from Persian language being used at Ottoman court, claiming entire Ottoman culture, or even farther Osman's dynasty, as Persian is ridiculous. The indicated user is pushing the same POV/OR on several discussion pages as well. Please, take a look at List of Iranian states and empires. Thanks. Atabek 18:24, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Adem Çevik, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:2004 in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:2004 in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

Support for deleting the Category:Anti-Armenianism[edit]

Will you support my arguement for the deletion of the Category:Anti-Armenianism that I put forward on May 1, 2009?

It is very subjective and even racist as it puts every person who questions the Armenian genocide, such as prominent academicians, who are not racist or personally against Armenian people or Armenia as an entity, along with assasins and militants.

Thank you

Disambiguation link notification for October 20[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of twin towns and sister cities in North Cyprus, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Tarsus, Mamak and Çankaya (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

The article Kadri Fellahoğlu has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one.   — Jeff G. ツ (talk) 06:25, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi. I was wondering if you'd be interested in setting up Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Turkey), based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). Now it's not a contest in itself, it's designed to motivate people to inspire others to improve content and build something which demonstrates the hard work going into the country which is visible. The focus is more on quality improvements but new articles are welcome too. Eventually a Turkish National Contest could be created to fuel it, like Wikipedia:Awaken the Dragon, in which contestants can choose to keep the Amazon vouchers themselves to buy their own books for more articles or put them into book fund to help editors further improve Turkish-related topics by giving them the books they want. It will begin though as purely an improvement drive. If interested, or you think anybody else might be interested, alert them and sign up on the Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Turkey talk page at the bottom. Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 14:12, 19 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 00:59, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
