Building collaborative teams?[edit]

Hi Aaron. It would be better if you can build links with other editors interested in this kind of topic, to prepare this and future nominations. That way, you can get a wide skill-base to work on an article. This may help. I'd rather spend a small amount of time on more FACs, given the shortage of reviewers. Please let me know when it's ready to look at again. Tony (talk) 05:47, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Chef[edit]

I didn't want to repeat myself which may have led to the confusion. Basically it's: he played for Essex Academy until 2003 when he was called up to the Essex first XI. I've always taken it for granted that first XI refers to a main team while the Academy is a second XI of sorts but maybe that isn't clear. This is why I find it hard to edit my own work, I always know what I mean but sometimes only I do. Tony2Times (talk) 23:27, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That's fine. Just wanted clarification as I was just reading through the article. Aaroncrick (talk) 09:19, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Vijender[edit]

Hey aaron, sorry was on leave the last few days. Thanks for ce the article. You are right, those parts are not clear and the lead looks a little fancrufty. I'll do an independent ce again and eliminate it. --Legolas (talk2me) 03:19, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have some other queries to ask you when you're done. Aaroncrick (talk) 04:37, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Shoot em. --Legolas (talk2me) 06:52, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The job was taken up after winning the olympic medal and coming back to India. However, as is seen, this is more of a side-job that is not taken seriously. His main earnings continue to come through the trophy wins and endorsements. I'll try to re-phrase the other concern that you raised. --Legolas (talk2me) 07:07, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ya I know. GA is pretty overloaded at this moment. Im still waiting for the "4 Minutes" FA to close. Wonder what's up with that. Its been a month already. --Legolas (talk2me) 07:15, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Will take a looky :) --Legolas (talk2me) 09:03, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I know. That's why Im taking it slow and steady. I will submit taht article for atleast 2 PRs then only proceed for FA. Im sure it has to go through atleast 5 FACs brfore it is promoted. --Legolas (talk2me) 08:57, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

(Outdent)::Hope so. Before that I'll push for "Give It 2 Me" and "Miles Away" for FA. Today or tomorrow first thing, I'll get around York Park somehow. --Legolas (talk2me) 09:09, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. I somehow survive multi-tasking. During the Madonna articles I used to develop 5-6 articles in 2 days and submit them for GA. That's how so many Madonna articles are GA now within the last two months. --Legolas (talk2me) 09:18, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Launceston article[edit]

Aaroncrick, thanks for your note about my changes to the Launceston article: it's nice to know that someone notices these things. My changes were very minor indeed — small copy editing changes — but I hope they make that little section clearer. Ondewelle (talk) 09:47, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The tram image is as far as I know dated incorrectly. Instead of being 1920 I'm pretty sure it is a photo taken on opening day of the tram system - early August 1911. Will try and confirm by checking other resources.
RossRSmith (talk) 10:33, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for checking it out. I'm not sure as I didn't put the image in the article and the Tasmanian library doesn't always use dates for its images. Aaroncrick (talk) 10:43, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

PLEASE help me out I might get booted from the AFL team .....

Sorry to stick my nose in but saw the section header pop up on my watch list. Infoboxes, templates, and formatting can be a pain and mistake shappen. I'm sure it will be an easy fix for someone a little more familiar with it. Don't stress out about it too much, Sydney Swans. I did a quick fix with some notes in the edit summary.Cptnono (talk) 13:15, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Federer Fan site![edit]

This site is credible and reliable because it keeps track of his career for years and in objective details from the early 2000's.BLUEDOGTN 22:40, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

We'll deal with that when we get to that bridge. If it is not included then, then it is not? I think if we have another tennis player like Andy Murray with a fan site link it should go for Federer, which this is the best and accurate.BLUEDOGTN 22:46, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Aaroncrick. It looked like York Park was doing well but didn't go through! It shouldn't be that far away from an FA so best of luck.Cptnono (talk) 05:11, 12 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't know it worked that way. I thought the FAC person came in and did their thing. The only tyhing I saw was "Northern Stand after fire damage" bleeding into the next seciton when viewing with Opera (I'm going to move it up to the fire section to see if it fits). Besides all of the requested changes were talken care of and I certainly would have supported.Cptnono (talk) 05:28, 12 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Assuming it gets nominated again and stays the same (or is better) I would be happy to go through it and suggest any quick changes. From going through it, I would "support" as is.Cptnono (talk)

The cricket part is something that you will know better, Im quite at a loss there. I will be able to contribute on the main structure as a biography and integration of personal life as a part of it. Gaga GT[edit]

He he. Lemme get Madonna's Confessions era to GT, then its off to Ganguly for sure. I hope I can create a new direction for musical tour articles with the Confessions Tour so that future editors can consider it as a perfect muse on how to construct musical tour articles. --Legolas (talk2me) 04:41, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Personal life in Ganguly? I never support any section called personal life in any bio. I always model any such articles according to articles like Madonna, Janet Jackson etc because I believe that notability of their personal life is a bit WP:UNDUE and sometimes tends to be a target for fancruft and blogging. Hence I prefer making it a part of the main biography. --Legolas (talk2me) 04:49, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Though I know him quite well but if we can't find sources for those stuff were fungati!!! But lemme try and make a draft in my sandbox. Then again, just waiting for the Confessions thing to go to GT. --Legolas (talk2me) 04:56, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

St Kilda templates/infoboxes[edit]

I have no issue with nominating most of those templates for deletion, but I'm still hoping Brian will show that he understands and accepts consensus, or at least, is willing to negotiate. Otherwise we're forever going to be trailing around behind him and nominating his St Kilda-related decorations for deletion. That would be a pity, because if he focused on improving the content of the articles instead, he could do for St Kilda what Boomtish (and others) have done for Geelong. DYK Ricky Ponting with the Australian cricket team in India in 2008-09[edit]

Thanks for congratulations and a comment on my talk. Regarding this DYK nomination, we'll need your response at the T:TDYK page. Materialscientist (talk) 23:23, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Under every DYK hook we keep a thread of review-reply questions, like a GAR. Most questions should be answered there (otherwise the review stalls). If discussion gets too broad and technical, it can be continued or held in parallel at various talk pages. Cheers. Materialscientist (talk) 23:32, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Updated DYK query On November 8, 2009, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Ricky Ponting with the Australian cricket team in India in 2008–09, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

South Park[edit]

Nah, it's not correct. For years, editors have been claiming that South Park is a real town, but have not been able to provide any evidence. You would think that the existence of a town would be easy to prove through secondary sources. Thanks for pointing out the edit. While the claim that it's a real town is incorrect, the portion about the town on the show being based on an specific area of Colorado is already mentioned in the main article body, and doesn't really need to be mentioned in the lead. I went ahead and removed it And thanks! :) - SoSaysChappy (talk) 14:51, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for your kind award of a Barnstar! Very appreciated. You do also have a point. As you may have noticed I have a bit of an attention-span problem and get bored/distracted easily... It generally means I flit between writing about cricket, football, Tasmania, military history and Australian history topics a bit too much. I really should try to focus on one to completion. I do try to get back to finish them off though. ie City of Clarence, and Football Federation Tasmania etc... Will get back to City of Clarence when done with my current upgrade of the FFT article. Hi Aaroncrick. I have archived the FAC nomination for York Park due to its outstanding issues and the fact that it has been up a long time. I understand that Brianboulton has offered to do a copyedit. When he is finished, you are welcome to bring the article back to FAC, even if it is sooner than the recommended "few weeks". I suspect that at that point the article should sail through to promotion. Good luck! Karanacs (talk) 18:11, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Aaroncrick, if you bring it back sooner than two weeks, be sure to add a note with Karanacs' diff [1] so that another editor doesn't remove the nom as premature. Regards, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 19:55, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
