Interview request[edit]

"WikiProject Report" would like to focus on WikiProject Cricket for an article for The Signpost. This is an excellent opportunity to draw attention to your efforts and attract new members to the project. Would you be willing to participate in an interview? If so, here are the questions for the interview. Just add your response below each question and feel free to skip any questions that you don't feel comfortable answering. Thanks and I take this opportunity to wish you a very Happy New Year! – SMasters (talk) 07:15, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hyphen luddite?[edit]

Hello, I noticed that your name was on the Wikipedia:Hyphen luddites page but you've not included yourself in [[Category:Wikipedian Hyphen Luddites]]. That can be done by adding the category to your user page if you wish.Trilobitealive (talk) 16:15, 22 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks; I deleted it by mistake. Aaroncrick TALK 06:55, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I found a free photo of Paine keeping wicket and added it to the article, I hope that's ok. There are a couple of alternatives if you're interested [1] [2]. Nev1 (talk) 22:54, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

YM's talk page[edit]

Good call there IMO, especially the bit about hiding behind the anon address -- you beat me to it! Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 08:54, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've actually reverted your removal. The IP has a point, they've been civil, and given the RFC is closed they have nowhere else to post it. Per WP:HUMAN they also aren't required to have an account. -- Eraserhead1 <talk> 11:33, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed; however, sometimes we need to apply some common sense. I'm sure you'd be slightly annoyed if I were to be critical of your work from my IP (where you wouldn't know who sent it) instead of using my main account. In the whole scheme of things, the comment really wasn't necessary in my opinion - especially considering the user was hiding behind his or her IP. Aaroncrick TALK 11:46, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If you had something legitimate to criticise (as in this case) I don't think it matters that much. I accept that it wouldn't be ideal to not use your account - especially if we'd discussed the matter before, but I wouldn't be that bothered. -- Eraserhead1 <talk> 12:07, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Okay mate. Not a big deal, so no need for me to sweat over it. All the best :) Aaroncrick TALK 22:34, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Adelaide leak[edit]

Thanks for the support. I seem to remember you have been looking at this one since it started! The FAC is going worryingly well at the moment, it can't last surely. Hope all is well with you. --Sarastro1 (talk) 23:04, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Added template for SuggestBot[edit]

Hi,

Thanks for being one of SuggestBot's users! I hope you have found the bot's suggestions useful.

We are in the process of switching from our previous list-based signup process to using templates and userboxes, and I have therefore added the appropriate template to your user talk page. You should receive the first set of suggestions within a day, and since we'll be automating SuggestBot you will from then on continue to receive them regularly at the desired frequency.

We now also have a userbox that you can use to let others know you're using SuggestBot, and if you don't want to clutter your user talk page the bot can post to a sub-page in your userspace. More information about the userbox and usage of the template is available on User:SuggestBot/Getting Recommendations Regularly.

If there are any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me on my user talk page. Thanks again, Nettrom (talk) 00:14, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:UTAS.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:UTAS.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 23:29, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings[edit]

Hi there, just a quick hello - I saw your comment about Tassie articles stagnating. I do intend to come back and do some more writing sometime soon, however I actually have a publishing contract, so am knees deep in an old school book - on paper! You know the sort of thing. Anyway, just so you know I haven't forgotten Tasmania on wikipedia. 42° South (talk) 13:57, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The Doggies[edit]

Hi Aaron. Saw your move Western Bulldogs and, to be honest, I'm not too sure about it. I know this has been discussed, albeit briefly, once before and Sydney Swans, Brisbane Lions and West Coast Eagles all don't have "Football Club" on the end. Worth discussing at WT:AFL, maybe? Cheers, Jenks24 (talk) 08:17, 3 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'd say that it was completely and utterly wrong. On the top of the talk page there is a link to the 2006 annual report (old I know, but I doubt they've changed name/corporate structure since then - and here is the 2010 report) which starts of saying "Your Directors submit the financial report of the Footscray Football Club Ltd. trading as Western Bulldogs for the year ended 31st October 2006". Doing a trademark search reveals only Western Bulldogs (without the FC) and ASIC company name search is the same. I'm about to move it back. WP:BRD. The-Pope (talk) 08:48, 3 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File:Sport Ground Launnie.jpg listed for deletion[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Sport Ground Launnie.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Hello Aaron, thanks for your comments at the recent FAC for Jonathan Agnew. Unfortunately it was closed earlier today as it received no support within three weeks. As such, we'll need to wait a while before renominating the article, some time in the new year. This is just a quick note to thank you for your interest so far, have a good seasonal period, and look forward to working with you in 2012.
