Padre Pio[edit]

Greetings, friend! Thank you for your attempts to make my edits seem less baised and for your lucid expansion of the section on the charges against Padre Pio. Since I am still a bit new to Wikipedia, would you be so kind as to explain what a weasel phrase is? I only wrote "Possibly out of envy" because the source I had cited in the same line says the very same thing, ie. that the motivation for the accusations was most probably envy. Once again, thanks for your edits. Peace be With you! Yours, Savio mit electronics 15:31, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for explaining. I'm now reading through the Weasel Words entry you mentioned. I'll be more careful in my wording from now on. However, the source I quoted was an article by John L. Allen, who has a Wikipedia entry. His Wikipedia article states:
John L. Allen, Jr. (1965-present) is a journalist who specializes in news about the Roman Catholic Church. He is the
Vatican analyst of CNN and NPR. He has a reputation for objectivity and an ability to obtain key information and news
about the Vatican.
That's why I thought it was okay to write that. But after reading the Weasel Words article I realise I should have written in the article as follows:
John L. Allen, Jr., a journalist specializing in news about the Roman Catholic Church, in an
article[1]. in the National Catholic Reporter says,
"It may well be that the charges against Padre Pio were built on nothing but gossip and envy."
But I hesitate to include this in the article now, since the article is quite long already. What is your opinion?
Thanks,
Yours,

I see what you mean. I should be careful in future while citing sources. Thanks. If not for you, I would never have looked at things in this angle.

P.S. I notice your IP address has changed.Wouldn't it be better for you to get registered? After all, you are making genuine contributions and should not be mixed up with others who may vandalise pages from the same IP address.
