Speedy deletion nomination of List of places by time of first human settlement.[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:AOK.png. You don't seem to have said where the image came from, who created it, or what the copyright status is. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

Non-free image use[edit]
Hi 613 The Evil. The licensing of each image you see on Wikipedia is determined by it copyright status and not every image file you see on Wikipedia is licensed the same. Some files are licensed as public domain or licensed under a free licensed suitable for Wikipedia and these are often collectively referred to as "free images". Other files are licensed as non-free content because of their copyright status and these file are commonly referred to as "non-free images". Non-free image use is highly restricted and each use of such an an image must satisfy Wikipedia's non-free image use policy. One of these criterion (or one part of one of these criterion) is WP:NFCC#10c, which states that each use of a non-free file is required to be provided with a separate specific non-free use rationale. So, if you feel that the non-free use of FIle:Rat King.jpg in Rat king, then please provide the required rationale explaning why.
Be advised, however, that per WP:NFCC#8 there has to be a really significant contextual reason to justify non-free use. An image such as this would be considered important as the primary means of identification of a stand-alone article about the work itself and, in some cases, it non-free use might also be justified in the article about the artist show created it if it can be shown to be a significant work which represents the style of the artist and which is the subject of critical commentary supported by citations to reliable sources. In other articles, such as more general thematic articles, non-free use becomes much harder to justify. A unsourced single sentence discussing Fritsch's work is not really considered to be critical commentary. The reader does not really need to see the image to understand that sentence, so omitting it would not be detriental to that understanding. A wikilink to the artist's article where the image can be seen is probably more than sufficient in this case per item 6 of WP:NFC#UUI.
You can of course expand the article by adding more sourced content about the piece to better justify its non-free use and then provide a suitable non-free use rationale for the use. You can also ask for assistance at WT:NFCC and WP:MCQ if you like. Simply adding a boilerplate rationale does not, however, really solve the problem; it may address NFCC#10c, but the remaining 9 non-free criteria also need to be met. Moreover, WP:OTHERIMAGE is not really a valid justification for non-free use because each use needs to be evaluated separately.
Finally, if an edit you make is reverted/undone and the edit sum seems to give a policy/guideline based reason for doing so, then it's generally not a good idea to revert the revert simply because you don't understand why. If you don't understand, the thing to do would be to ask for clarification. Another editor has also removed the image from the article, which means they also have some concerns as well. The thing to do in such a case is to try and address these concerns to see if there's a way they can be resolved. If the file's removal would have just been some random edit with no edit sum, then reverting the edit could possibly be justified. That was not the case here. Image use, in particular non-free image use, can be tricky so it's best to ask for clarification unless the removal is an obvious case of vandalism or disruptive editing. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:32, 21 May 2017 (UTC)
