I understand that, but it's not standard practice to keep the cast section up to date with a character's status. WP:TVCAST suggests that editors "Try to avoid using the section as a repository for further "in-universe" information that really belongs in the plot summary" Ryan8374 (talk) 04:37, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Appropriate amount of detail for a general purpose encyclopedia[edit]

I saw you recently expanded the plot of Fire with Fire (2012 film). The problem is that you added way too much detail. Our guideline of film plots recommends that they stay within 400 and 700 words. This is so that they are useful in understanding the work but are free of overwhelming detail. Plots that have 1000+ words are usually that long because they summarize the film scene by scene instead of telling us, in general terms, what the film is about. That kind of detail is more appropriate for Wikia. As a general purpose encyclopedia, Wikipedia is expected to cover only the most important aspects of a work. The focus should also be mostly on real-world aspects, not detailed in-universe facts. This extends to character lists, which it seems you're also interested in. I wanted to thank you for taking the time to write episode summaries for The Good Doctor (TV series). You may have noticed that I extensively edited two episode summaries that you wrote, so I wanted to make sure I let you know that I appreciated the work you did. The summaries you wrote were a little over guideline length, so my edits were mostly geared around conserving detail to reduce length. But my job was made easy by the high quality of your prose. Judging from this Talk page, I think that some other editors over the years have been a little overzealous in describing your edits as nonconstructive; I see a strong history of good-faith edits and competent writing.
