Please close AfC/R requests properly -- you are leaving off your signature and the closure foot template[edit]

Hello, welcome to WP:AFC/R. I see you are a new account, who is processing requests at Redirects for Creation. There is a problem with the requests you recently processed [1] The instructions on closure of redirect creation requests is:

  1. Add the template {{afc-c|a}} directly under the section header.
  2. Add the substituted template {{subst:afc redirect}} below the main text of the request along with the reason (see that template's documentation for other response options). Add your own signature immediately after, using four tildes (67.70.25.175 (talk) 18:08, 10 September 2023 (UTC)).[reply]
  3. Add the template {{afc-c|b}} at the very bottom of the section, below your reply. Failure to include this template will cause all text on the rest of the page to disappear!
  4. Preview the page, then save your changes if everything is correct.

You are neglecting to do

{{subst:afc redirect|accept}} ~~~~
{{afc-c|b}}

On the accepted redirect proposals you have processed. And this is breaking the request page -- 67.70.25.175 (talk) 18:08, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve HD 201585[edit]

Hello, 117daveawesome,

Thank you for creating HD 201585.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

Bit of a mess. Notability is dubious, see WP:NASTRO. A starbox with zero citations isn't good either.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Lithopsian}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Page moves[edit]

Hello, 117daveawesome,

Please be more careful when you are considering moving an article. You shouldn't be moving an article most than once. Do not move pages on a whim, it makes it look like you don't know what you want. Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from TOI-561 into another page. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. Notice

The article List of exoplanets that host stars are visible to the naked eye:Bayer designations has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Bad title, and is this a notable subject? Is there any reason why exoplanets would be treated differently based on the apparent magnitude of their star? Seems a random intersection of two traits.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Fram (talk) 13:58, 25 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

In cases like this, you can quickly get rid of the article using speedy deletion. Since you created it and are the only author, the simplest case would be to replace the content by {{db-author}}. It is quicker than PROD and less likely to be interrupted. Also, just blanking is an indication that you want the page to be deleted, but it might not get spotted. Lithopsian (talk) 19:30, 25 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Camelopardalis (constellation) indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 21:21, 25 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@SevenSpheres and Lithopsian: I'm not that familiar with WP:SPI, but shouldn't these 3 other accounts (User:112.120.56.203 excluded, as it redirects to 117's, and is clearly mentioned on 117's user page) be tagged as 117's in some way (assuming they're related, of course), lest the same WP:BADSOCK incident be repeated elsewhere, whether intentionally or carelessly? Since 117daveawesome has not yet confirmed nor denied their relationship to the other 3 accounts, after 2 months and ~1,500 edits, I think SPI is appropriate.   ~ Tom.Reding (talkdgaf)  19:24, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

List of exoplanets with Bayer designations[edit]

Hello!

This list article has been moved to Draft:List of exoplanets with Bayer designations so you can continue working on it. You can see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of exoplanets with Bayer designations for some of the reasoning why. Most important is finding a better title (someone moved your original title of List of exoplanets that host stars are visible to the naked eye:Bayer designations to this one at one point, possibly because it was a bit confusing as a title).

You will also probably want to find a find a couple reliable sources that discuss this type of planet and maybe include a couple of examples, as that will help build a stronger consensus for keeping it in article space.

Please let me know if you need any help with any of this! —siroχo 03:06, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of TOI-1431 (draft)[edit]

Hello 117daveawesome,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged TOI-1431 (draft) for deletion, because it's a redirect from an article title to a namespace that's not for articles.

If you don't want TOI-1431 (draft) to be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Copying within Wikipedia[edit]

You did not identify the source of the material in your edit. It appears to be Kepler-223. Copying within Wikipedia is acceptable but it must be attributed.

This type of edit does get picked up by Copy Patrol and a good edit summary helps to make sure we don't accidentally revert it. However, for future use, would you note the best practices wording as outlined at Wikipedia:Copying_within_Wikipedia? In particular, linking to the source article and adding the phrase "see that page's history for attribution" helps ensure that proper attribution is preserved.

While best practices are that attribution should be added to the edit summary at the time the edit is made, the linked article on best practices describes the appropriate steps to add attribution after the fact. I have done so for you this time, but hope you will follow best practices yourself next time.

I've noticed that this guideline is not very well known, even among editors with tens of thousands of edits, so it isn't surprising that I point this out to some veteran editors, but there are some t's that need to be crossed.~~~~ S Philbrick(Talk) 12:56, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of T Velorum[edit]

Hello 117daveawesome,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username FULBERT and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I have tagged an article that you started, T Velorum for deletion, because it is unnecessary per one of the criteria at WP:G14.

If you feel that the page shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|FULBERT}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

117daveawesome, I cleaned up the references in this article for you. The biggest problem was that you had missed closing a ref tag, which resulted in multiple template errors. Also neither of your journal sources was attributed properly: you just provided the internal variable name you had chosen for the reference as the |title= to make the URL function.
I understand you've only been here for two months, but you shouldn't leave mainspace articles in this state of disrepair. Folly Mox (talk) 13:32, 30 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Bypassing WP:RM, WP:TfD, WT:ASTRO[edit]

Please follow the proper move-procedures when making large changes, like with the {{NGC objects:1-499}} family of templates. A number of issues could have been avoided/addressed via prior discussion if you had gone through the proper channels, like the errors in documentation due to unmoved pages, the missing space after the colon in all the new template names, and (possibly) the use of en dashes in the new template names, with redirects made from keyboard-hyphenated names.   ~ Tom.Reding (talkdgaf)  14:43, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
