Hi, I'm Yumecosmos or just Yume. I'm mostly on here to read, but once in a while I fix typos.

Interests[edit]

On here I spend a lot of time in the history section, especially the parts from the Bronze Age to the Early Modern Period. Also curious about botany and other plant-related stuff, space, philosophy, and folklore.

Elsewhere I'm a programmer and casual gamer. Some of my favorites are The Legend of Zelda, Stardew Valley, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, and assorted visual novels (lately it's Arcade Spirits.) I play on easy mode and read a lot of fanfiction. Someday, maybe, I'll write a book.

Opinions[edit]

For what it's worth, I deeply regret any political views I've expressed here or elsewhere before about 5 years ago, when I finally started to understand that my experiences are not universal.

White people need to let go of this false victimhood narrative that convinces us we're somehow being punished when other people's rights are recognized, or frames accountability as persecution. Also, Christians need to own their ties to white supremacy and colonialism, and quit trying to impose their will on secular democracies.

Reproductive justice and healthcare are human rights. (And that means a lot more than just abortion.)

It's basic decency to use the names/pronouns a person or group has chosen for themselves. That includes not using terms they have asked you not to use, even if you don't understand why, even if it "used to be okay."

I believe we're now living in a world where no one needs to go hungry or lack shelter. Any economic system that depends on suffering to function needs to be changed. I don't know exactly what that transition should look like.

I'm always learning, and I'll try to be more humble and thoughtful than I have been in the past.
