I started trading emails with Mike South to try and free up the ones the photos he took that are posted to lukeisback.com. My first email to him (in full):

I'm one of the volunteers who edits Wikipedia - so much so that they made me an administrator. A while back I got Luke Ford to consent to the licensing of his images using the Creative Commons, who opened the door to the use of his photos on Wikipedia. As a result a large number of the porn star articles use Luke's photos... for instance:

And that's use among the A's... all told there are over 1000 images of his present on Wikicommons, which is the central repository from which all the various versions of Wikipedia (English, French, German, etc.) draw from.

There are also a number of images which originally came from you which are also on his old site of lukeisback.com... images such as these ones of Angelica Sin (<http://www.lukeisback.com/images/images/Tampa/38.JPG>http://www.lukeisback.com/images/images/Tampa/38.JPG), Daphne Rosen (<http://www.lukeisback.com/images/images/Tampa/71.JPG>http://www.lukeisback.com/images/images/Tampa/71.JPG) and Trina Michaels (<http://www.lukeisback.com/images/images/Tampa/188.JPG>http://www.lukeisback.com/images/images/Tampa/188.JPG) which, to be honest, are better than 90% of Luke's work (hey, he earned that nickname of "The Camera of Death" <G>).

What I'm wondering is if you'd be willing to license the specific images that you took that are already existing on lukeisback.com under the Creative Commons license, thus allowing Wikipedia to use them.

Wonderful. Just one small detail left... the folks in charge at Wikipedia are real sticklers for the details... primarily to keep the lawyers away. I'll need you to reply and state in your own words that you do consent to the use of the images taken by you posted on lukeisback.com under the terms of the Creative Commons license.

(I know, I know... hair-splitting and inane, but this way it can't be argued later on that Mike didn't consent to it and yes I have seen that argued in relations to other permission emails).

And his to me regarding the license (in full):

I consent to the use of images taken by me posted on lukeisback.com, mikesouth.com or anywhere else as long as I am credited as the photographer.

You may use these for any purpose under the terms of the creative commons license, so long as that does not supercede my right to be credited as the photographer.

All of the above have been forwarded to OTRS. End result: all of Mike South's images on lukeisback.com are usable under the Creative Commons license with the Attribution tag.
