Lead[edit]

The original lead does not mention the the article's main sections: history, types of photocatalysis, applications, and quantification. Since you are editing the types of photocatalysis section, you should edit the lead to mention this section. If possible, you should also add the other major sections of the article to the lead.

Content[edit]

You added content related to the topic and relatively up-to-date. The earliest reference is from 1995, but the other 10 references are from 2003 and later.

Tone and Balance[edit]

The content added is neutral, does not seem heavily biased, and does not seem to persuade the reader in favour of a certain position.

Sources and References[edit]

Overall, the sources and references need the most work; the article is missing many Wikilinks and references. I have outlined the missing references and Wikilinks below:

  • Heterogeneous Photocatalysis
    • The first paragraph needs Wikilinks for catalyst, oxidations, dehydrogenation, hydrogen transfer, metal deposition, etc
    • The second paragraph needs Wikilinks for electron, hole, valence band, etc
    • The second paragraph needs more references. Only 2 out of 10 sentences have citations.
    • The third paragraph needs a Wikilink for hydroxyl radical.
    • The last paragraph needs more references. Where did you find the properties information of TiO2? Where did you find the bandgap values?
  • Homogeneous Photocatalysis
    • The section needs Wikilinks for ozone and hydrogen fuel.
    • You need to add a reference for the following: "Homogeneous photocatalysts are common in the production of clean hydrogen fuel production, with the notable use of cobalt and iron complexes."

Organization and Sentences[edit]

You wrote the content in an encyclopedic style. The content was generally written well, but two sentences confused me. The first sentence is the following: "photocatalytic reactions are initiated by the absorption of illumination with energy equal to or greater than the band gap of the semiconductor". Does absorption of illumination mean absorption of light? You should reword this sentence and add a reference. If you add a reference, then a confused reader can follow the reference to find out more information. Also, the following sentence would benefit from more context: "the wide use of transition-metal complexes as photocatalysts is in large part due to the large band gap and high stability of the species." I think the readers would benefit from an explanation as to why this is the case. Furthermore, watch out for passive voice. I suggest running your edits thorough a passive voice checker.


For the equations in Heterogeneous Catalysis and Homogeneous Catalysis, I do not know what the lower case h represents. Typically, I would see an h and think "hydrogen", but I assume in this context it means holes? I think you should explicitly state what the letters represent in the equations.


In regards to organization, you should move the Filtration Membranes and Air Filtration sections to the Applications section. Currently, they are both located in the Types of Photocatalysis section.

You did not add any images or media to the article. I think the article would benefit from an image or two, especially for the application section.
