Havre de Grace (foaled in Kentucky on May 12, 2007), is an American Thoroughbred racing by the exceptional Saint Liam who was the 2005 Eclipse Champion Older Male and Horse of the Year. Saint Liam, a winner of almost 4 and half million dollars, died at the age of 6 due to a freak accident while being led to his paddock. Saint Liam was by Saint Ballado who also sired the champion mare Ashado.
At the age of three, she won the Fitz Dixon Cotillion Stakes, and placed in the Alabama Stakes, the Delaware Oaks, and the Go For Wand Stakes. She came in third in the Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic.
At four, and competing against males, she took the Woodward Stakes. Against her own sex, she won the Apple Blossom Handicap, the Azeri Stakes, and the Obeah Stakes. Running against her chief rival, the filly Blind Luck, she placed in the Delaware Handicap]].
Rivalry[edit]
Harve de Grace is in the midst of an important rivalry with the filly, Blind Luck. During the year 2010 and continuing on through 2011, these two horses have faced each other six times and each time either one or the other has won by a neck or a nose.
There is serious talk of Havre de Grace running in the 2011 Breeders' Cup Classic after her defining defeat of top males in the Woodward.
