Mr. Robot is an American drama thriller television series created by Sam Esmail. It stars Rami Malek as Elliot Alderson, a cybersecurity engineer and hacker who has social anxiety disorder and clinical depression. Elliot is recruited by an insurrectionary anarchist known as Mr. Robot, played by Christian Slater, to join a group of hacktivists called "fsociety".[1] The group aims to destroy all debt records by encrypting the financial data of the largest conglomerate in the world, E Corp.

In addition to Malek and Slater, the first season also starred Carly Chaikin, Portia Doubleday, and Martin Wallström, with Michael Cristofer, Stephanie Corneliussen, Elliot Villar, and BD Wong in supporting roles. For the second season, Cristofer and Corneliussen were promoted to regulars with Grace Gummer joining the main cast. In the third season, Wong was promoted to a regular and Bobby Cannavale joined the cast, and Villar guest starred. In the final season, Villar was promoted to a regular and Ashlie Atkinson joined the cast.

The pilot episode premiered via online and video on demand services on May 27, 2015. The series later debuted on USA Network on June 24, 2015, running for four seasons until its two-part series finale on December 22, 2019.
