Babatunde "Tribe" Akande (born Babatunde Akande) , is a Nigerian nonbinary self-taught multimedia Creative Expressionist and storyteller artist.

Early life[edit]

Tribe was born in the Lagos Island district of Lagos. Tribe was raised in Lagos, where he attended primary and secondary school. They were the first in a family of six children from his mother, and first from a family of four children from his father.

Career[edit]

They began their art journey began as a way to cope with mental health challenges and domestic violence. Their art focuses on visual art, sculpting, augmented reality, installation, performance, sound and photography. In 2021, while studying Computer science, they dropped out of Sup MTI to go into full time art creation.

Awards[edit]

Babatunde is one of the Winners of the International Minority Art Contest 2023 for minority artists by OHCHR (United Nations) in Switzerland, Geneva.[1]
