AREA MEASUREMENT Area measurement data provide the size, in square units (metric and nonmetric) of geographic entities for which the U.S. Census Bureau tabulates and disseminates data. Area is calculated from the specific boundary recorded for each entity in the U.S. Census Bureau’s geographic database Census 2000 Geographic Terms and Concepts A–7 U.S. Census Bureau, Census 2000 (see TIGER® database). These area measurements are recorded as whole square meters. (
