I hold a PhD in biological sciences from Columbia University. I have spent most of my career working as a scientist in academic, commercial and non-governmental roles around the globe and with a long association of work on rice and other crops. I hope to serve other Wikipedians as a resource for accuracy and clarity on topics associated with rice research, production, nutrition and related topics where I have expertise and experience. I am a voracious consumer of research and news about rice, agricultural research and public health.

I welcome relevant topic inquiries on my user profile discussion page to support the most accurate representation of rice-related information throughout Wikipedia. I will do my best to be responsive to civil and appropriate requests posted to User_talk:RiceScientist to provide my individual expertise to the growing body of rice-related topic entries on Wikipedia.

I am currently a senior rice scientist at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). IRRI is a non-profit, independent research and training organization which helps maintain and improve rice varieties and crop management techniques to help farmers improve rice yields, traits and quality in an environmentally sustainable manner. For general inquiries about IRRI not specific to Wikipedia please visit the Contact us page.
