User:RapidsLurker15/Lifespan timeline of governors of the Chickasaw Nation

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a graphical lifespan timeline of governors of the Chickasaw Nation. Sixteen people have served thirty terms as the governor of the Chickasaw Nation since the office came into existence in 1856. They are listed in order of office (Harris, Colbert, Overton, Wolf, Mosely, and Johnston are shown in order of their first terms).

Notes[edit]

  • The four provisional governors are excluded from this timeline, since they are not listed on the Chickasaw Nation website.
  • I have no data for the parties of most of the post-statehood governors, if they even belonged to any parties in the first place.
  • I initially believed that Jonas Wolf and Palmer Mosely were members of the National Party. However, this newspaper clipping from 1915 states that Wolf was a member of a (currently unknown) third party. I've named this party "Wolfite" for lack of an official name.
  • In the case of Thomas S. Parker, most places give his lifespan as 1775–1890. However, this would make him one of the oldest people to have ever lived. This interview with Parker's grandson-in-law from the McClain County Archives states that Parker was 21 in 1832, giving us a birth year of 1811. 1811–1890 is a much more reasonable lifespan, so that's what I've gone with.
