From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German Football Ranking is a ranking of German football teams based on their results in the last five years. All teams that have played in the 3. Liga or above since the 2008–09 season are included, and all results from the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League (excluding Europa Conference League qualifying and play-off rounds) as well as the Bundesliga, 2. Bundesliga, 3. Liga, the Regionalligen and the DFB-Pokal are counted.

Points by Outcome
Outcome Points
Win 3
Draw 1
Loss 0

The points gained in a certain competition are multiplied with the corresponding competition factor; then, all competition results are added to give the total score. In cup matches, decisions through penalty shoot-outs are counted, i.e. the winning team in a shoot-out gets three points, while the losing team gets none; however, in cups with a home-and-away match format, e.g. UEFA competitions, they are not counted as they do not decide who wins the match, but rather who advances to the next round. Teams are included in the ranking as soon as they have qualified for the 3. Liga or above, or for the UEFA Europa League by winning the DFB-Pokal, and are eliminated when their total point score reaches zero.

Teams are sorted alphabetically by city name in case of tie, while states are sorted by the number of points per team (PPT) and then alphabetically. Yellow stars () represent German championships, while grey stars () represent East German titles; similarly, gold medals () represent DFB-Pokal victories, while silver medals () represent FDGB-Pokal wins. (L) and (C) signify the current Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal title holders, respectively.
