This is a very rough guide to assessing notability of pipers, drummers, and pipe bands. This is in recognition of the fact that sourcing such articles can be difficult, and pipe bands rarely get news coverage proportional to their significance.

Pipe bands[edit]

  • Grade 1 bands, or former Grade 1 bands, are almost certainly notable.
  • Grade 2 bands may be notable.
  • Grade 3/ 4 and below - probably not. If Field Marshal was the Berlin Phil, a Grade 4 band would be a community choir.
  • Juvenile bands - associate with school, adult band.

Solo players[edit]

  • Gold medal winners at prestigious competitions
  • Recording artists

Tunes/ albums[edit]

  • Only a small number of tunes - Category:Compositions for bagpipe - more may be notable.
  • Live in Ireland by 78 Fraser etc. might be notable.

Individuals[edit]

  • Pipe majors/ leading drummer of World Champion winning bands (such a small number.)

Pipe makers[edit]
