Article 1: Rowing[edit]

Audience and Purpose

The article is supposed to "deal with the more general types of rowing [...] rather than the sport of competitive rowing" as claimed in the lead. This article is an informative article that I think aims to provide the reader (someone with very basic knowledge of rowing) with the basics on the subject. The purpose of this article is clear at the beginning but becomes vague as the article goes on. At first, the article included some general information on the types of rowing systems and its origin (addressing the uninformed audience). But then, the article moves into some very specific facts/information (no longer general information) and thus, it addressed a very different audience. Thus, the articles will need some work on its content in relation to the purpose. From the talk history, there was a discussion on what to include in the article and they decided to disregard the sport aspect because it is in another article. Moreover, there were some requests to add more information on various topics but no one was willing to take that step because none of the editors were experts on the topic. All recent edit focused on minor things not content related.

This article has been intensively edited over time. There is one editor that seems to return back to this article to review it more recently.
