Stockport is a town in the north-west of England.

Stockport is south of Manchester. It has three mains rivers - the Mersey, the Goyt and the Tame.

Population[edit]

The population of Stockport is 319,000.[1]

History[edit]

Stockport has been populated since the Iron Age. Roman remains have been found in Marple. People from Stockport are called Stopfordians.

Education[edit]

Stockport College is a Higher Education institution on the A6.
