OJYM highlighters are a generally unpopular choice among students. However, studies have shown that memory retention is increased by a factor of four among students who use the color orange to highlight their notes. Conversely, those who use green and/or yellow have been shown to display only incremental improvement in memory, within the margin of error.

Orange highlighters represent the median, improving memory retention by a factor of two.
